Thank you for accepting our invitation on HDRI-Skydomes ! Feel free to add any of your work at any time.
Just a little problem : your deposit has not been integrated into out gallery, I don't know the a reason. I tried to integrate it in another way, so don't be surprised to see a second invitation.

hey dude octane 2019 will feature Randomwalk SSS which is a better method of calculating SSS for things like skin and flesh, will u be updating your product for that future octane release?
they also will be implementing a multiple coat Specular function which is obviously meant to be used for things like wet and oily skin.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-hevT…
they will also be implementing a universal hair material as well.

We're looking into this, but cannot support OTOY's current business model, when it comes to subscriptions in regard to the state the OCDS plug-in is currently in.
Should they finally see that the OCDS-plug-in is light years away from the development state of the other integrated plug-ins and find a solution (either in terms of pricing or in bringing OCDS on par with the other plug-ins) we might reconsider on this.
But as it stands right now, all I can say is, that we're looking into it :/

aw man that's really unfortunate, cuz randwalk SSS was probably my most requested thing from octane. Blender 3DCG NSFW animations always looked so good even with terrible 3d assets ripped from games because of Cycles renderer having randomwalk SSS which allowed for a cheap and easy way to make skin look super fleshy and gooey. Octane SSS always had this plastic-ish silicone manufactured look to skin mostly cuz octane has a much more of a "hard-surface" focus on rendering.

Sure did, but I lost one of my GPU's a couple of weeks ago, which makes development of RedSpec and rendering a chore atm.
Will look into buying a new one next year some time.

hey do you plan on making an update for redspec with the new Octane 4 release that just came out last night? Octane 4 release says they improved SSS apparently.

I'm working on that, as I'm typing this.
We'll look into it, how much sense it makes to incorporate it into the current shader set-up under the consideration of all the features they introduced.
We'll let you guys know in our journal.

I talked to you in the OTOY forums about this, but the thing i want the most from the new octane 4 is the faster geometry loading. I want it to be able to scrub through my daz animations without doign the "building geometry" bullshit everytime i make a small posing or morph edit. Thats all iwant from octane right now.

I was using your previous Gen2 shaders adapted to my Gen3 characters, but after buying your new Gen3/8 shaders... I regret not having done before. AWESOME!

I am surely doing something wrong but... whenever I apply the shaders on my existing character and start the render it makes the skin a bit plastic-alike :/ What am I doing wrong? I simply drag and drop the shaders one by one over the many body parts and render... at least that's what the readme PDF is telling me to do. Do I have to play around with the settings? Could you give me some quick tips?

TRRazor In reply to sHoNi89 [2015-10-30 05:52:55 +0000 UTC]
Hey,
it depends strongly on your OctaneRender plug-in version and the character materials you applied to BEFORE you actually apply the RedSpec shaders.
Make sure to get the most recent DAZ3D Studio plug-in version of Octane here: render.otoy.com/customerdownlo…
And the most recent Poser here render.otoy.com/customerdownlo…
Then make sure to apply 3Delight settings BEFORE applying in DAZ3D Studio, as Iray materials won't work.
Changing the glossiness of the shader is described in the manual: Try upping the roughness values, by decreasing any specular values.
Let me know, if this helped you.
Regards and Happy Rendering
Noel

Hi there!!!
I'm a brand new Octane user and a customer of yours, having purchased the skin shaders for Gen 2 and they're a -life- saver for a newbie like me!!!
I was wondering if you could pass on some advice in regards to rendering transmapped hair! I can't get it nearly as beautiful and realistic as you guys can! Despite editting the transmaps, it always seems too... Well, unrealistic in regards to how the light interacts with it.
Any advice for a newbling? Thanks guys, you're great!

Hey Ashfire45,
thank you so much for your kind words
We're really happy, that you're liking our shaders so much - thanks
As in regard to your questions in rendering hair in Octane - we're currently working on a little something which will probably help you out in that respect.
Stay tuned - we'll announce more in the near future.

Appreciate your patience
We're working on a solution which should work great on a lot of hair types and models.

I didn't ask for a release date because while I couldn't begin to imagine how tricky it is to make these shaders, I appreciate they don't happen over night! I know the end result is going to be worth it and that's all I need to be patient! :3

TRRazor In reply to Ashfire45 [2015-06-11 04:42:45 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, as we already mentioned it is pretty tough to come up with a solution for all kinds of hair types.
Most artists use transmapped hair, which is reacting entirely different to light in comparison to strand hair done with FibreMesh or Garibaldi or LAMH.
So we want to find a shader mix which will enable you to get a great base for either one of them and then give you customizability to tweak the shader output to your liking.
That sweet spot we're currently testing internally

Hallo Kollege Razor!

Werde jetzt mal weitermachen. Ach, den neuen Monique-Shader hab ich auch schon! Wenn du weiter so Shader entwickelst, hab ich bald kein Geld mehr. haha

Thanks once again !
I'd be interested in using the REDSPECSSS material, but i'm using the standalone version of Octane. Would you have a .ocs or some other file that could be used in Octane standalone ?

We're currently readying the shaders up for a commercial release.
Said release will also include a shader version for Octane Standalone.
Regularly check our group page redspecsss.deviantart.com as the release will be announced there
