I did! It didn't have so much to do with the cookie association as it did with some other stuff. It's a bit of a long story. Oreochema was a username I made when I first created an Xbox profile (before Xbox Live), which I only did because my younger brother got me hooked on Halo. (I played MechAssault before that, but never really wanted to play online. Halo brought me into the world of multiplayer.) That same brother started down a bad path some years ago. Specifically, meth. I had to watch as he treated my parents like shit and blamed them because they refused to enable him. His bad lot was everyone's fault but his own. He finally got arrested, agreed to treatment, quit going to treatment, yadda yadda. I couldn't stand the association anymore, so I changed my username to something that I hoped would help me remember what I loved: writing. (With a little allusion to drawing, too.) Maybe it'll help me move forward with my writing, yeah?

Still doesn't quite feel right. Oreochema is a part of me. I grew up playing games, and that username has been as much me as my own face. I don't change myself when I go online. I'm still the same person. So in a way, I'm still Oreochema.

And yeah, a lot of people associated me with the cookie. I used to hate the nickname "Oreo" but it grew on me after some close friends used it for a while. Still not sure how wise it was to change it here on DA, since I can't change it back, but ever forward, right?

(Also, my little bro is doing better. He's since turned himself in and is being treated a couple hours away from me. he no longer blames everyone else for his problems and I hope to go visit him soon. Here's hoping things down get shut down before I can make the trip.)

D'awww! Thank you! It was pretty good. I had one of my finals today, but my bro brightened my day. He got me a copy of "Strange Planet" by Nathan Pyle. I've always loved those little comics, and now I have a book of them!

I actually made a not-so-nice forum post on our online forum for that. The professor set up a weekly forum wherein the class was supposed to give input on the scheduled final date/time. If they couldn't make it, they had to suggest something else. I didn't want to do it on my birthday, but I figured it didn't really matter that much. My post went something along the lines of, "Finishing this class on my birthday? Sounds like an excellent gift!"

I hated that damned class. XD

Thank you! XD (The cookie comment comes from my user name, as I'm sure you've guessed. Since those first few letters look like the brand cookie. Truth is, "Oreochema" is a misspelling of "Oreochima," which is a species of extinct, prehistoric fish. I think I'm going to change it at some point, though.)

Nope! Got it from a book I had when I was a kid. The name stuck with me, so it's been my username in all sorts of places. I used to use it for gaming, too, but I've been switching to a new one, even though "Oreochema" is feels like a part of me. Still trying to decide if I should switch.

One of the things that surprises me about a lot of those pages is that, according to the "Deviant for" header, they've been around for years. Which tells me there's no one deleting them, and there's no algorithm on the site removing them. There's got to be a ton of them lurking around.
