FFVII is really great, though I'm not too sure I entirely get its popularity. Think I would place it as my third or fourth favourite (IMO FFXII is incredibly awesome).

The settings are always what attract me for some reason. FFVII had an amazing setting and story, honestly. I really liked how dark it was compared to the rest of the series, which is also probably a big reason for my anticipation of FFXV; its setting looks glorious and gritty.
I just really like how open FFXII is. My first playthrough was spent attempting to run through the Salikawood at level fourteen, or stupid things like that. It had the best exploration feature thing, I suppose. Then again, I haven't played the MMOs.

I know a lot of people are upset that XV plays more like an action game than the traditional turn-based combat, but honestly, I'm excited about the Kingdom Hearts-esque gameplay, and I admire how Squeeenix is willing to try many new things in their Final Fantasy series.

I don't have a strict preference, I just like what I enjoy playing (which can be mildly eclectic, I suppose). Which happens to be most every game in the main FF series. It usually annoys me how fans tend to dislike the newer games because they're so different, because I just think the series is a form or sort of artistic freedom, if that makes sense. They experiment with new concepts and ideas, and if some don't work as well as they'd hoped, they scrap them and move on.

But anyway, the concept and setting of FFXV are what I'm most excited for. A noir-ish modern-era mafia dynasty surrounded by threats from neighbouring, culturally-medieval kingdoms just sounds amazing to me, and if the slogan means what I think it means, then it's likely symbolic to something I won't say here which would make the plot pretty predictable. Oh, and open world, too, that sounds too fun to be true. All I need is a PS4... :/

They try things out, if they work out, fine... if not, well, move on.

I'm Very much looking forward to XV, especially the open world. The worlds in the FF series were always rich in detail.

P.s.: I don't have a PS4 as well

I found it to be a nice and easy way to get a "feel" for a game... especially when its a no-commentary playthrough... it annoys me when people comment on their action while playing^^

That would be the only reason I would watch gameplay footage of a game on YouTube. But my attention is only held for the series' first three episodes, then I lose interest in watching it and feel like playing it myself.

Though there are a few YouTube channels that I might watch on occasion for the sake of their silly commentary, out of sheer boredom, but only if I've played the game before.
