First, thanks for recommending The Wonderful 101 soundtrack. I have converted a boatload of tracks from Youtube (dodging infections left and right) and burned them onto two discs. Masami Ueda is now one of my favorite composers.

Second, if you want a good excuse to see Krull but still don't really care about the movie itself, the guys at Rifftrax are gonna be making fun of it in theaters later this year. It may not be in a nearby one, and tickets are pricier than normal, but there it is.

May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back.

You're welcome!  I'm glad you're enjoying the soundtrack!  If you want some other epic video game soundtracks, try these:

The Witcher 3 series (all three albums: Wild Hunt, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine)
The Last Guardian
Super Metroid Symphony (a fan orchestration of the Super Metroid soundtrack)
Super Castlevania IV (one of the most haunting yet bada** SNES scores out there!)

Have you heard much Final Fantasy music or played any of the games?  I haven't played the games, but there's way too many songs to recommend.  FF6 has an incredible soundtrack that desperately needs a re-orchestration!

Yeah, unfortunately I'm probably not going to be able to see Rifftrax because I live in a very isolated area away from big cities.  It's extremely unlikely they'll come to our small town theater.  However, I may either rent Krull online or wait for it to show up at a used bookstore (they get some occasional gems there!).  Thanks for the recommendation anyway .

And may the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields;
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Man, the Irish really have a way with words!  It's really cool, since I'm 1/4 Irish myself .

Well this is a neat coincidence. I parted with that quote because it was on a bookmark next to me and seemed appropriate for your profile, but I just went to my Youtube subscriptions and found this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=hozPWd…

Oh yeah, last couple of Notes we exchanged I totally bookmarked all your recommendations. And I sometimes pick a random Final Fantasy or Zelda game (they're all the same to me) just to listen.

I'm glad I've helped expand your soundtrack collection .  If there's more scores you want to recommend to me, let me know!

For some reason, even though I've never played a Final Fantasy game, I tend to get into the Final Fantasy scores more.  But Zelda has some incredible music too.  I actually think Breath of the Wild's score is vastly underrated (I'm playing the game and it's my favorite Zelda game so far).

Oh, you know how I said FF6 desperately needs a re-orchestration?  If you ever want to, listen to this incredible fan orchestration of Dancing Mad, the final boss theme for the game.  The SNES original is one of the longest final boss themes ever; it's basically a four movement tone poem representing the four stages of the battle.  The original 16-bit track is amazing too!  The fan orchestration is available for free-download below.

Welp, I was watching some old episodes of Talespin and noticed how orchestral and pulp-y the score was. It's by Christopher L. Stone. The few tracks that can be found on Youtube feature several minutes of silence:

...and this here is the only account that appears to have uploaded any of Mr. Stone's "Dragon's Lair 3D" music:

The only stuff he has on Amazon is a pair of horror movies that I haven't listened to yet. That should keep ya 'bout as busy as it did me.

Ah, I thought that name sounded familiar.

I don't know if you knew this, but Don Bluth is trying to get back into traditional animation and he Kickstarted a campaign to make a Dragon's Lair movie.  He's made a partially animated pitch so far.  I really hope it takes off.  Anyway, the reason Christopher Stone sounded familiar was because he's in talks to score the movie if it gets the green light!

I'll be sure to give your recommendations a listen.  Thanks .

Looks like an Indiegogo campaign now. And it ain't exactly popping.

TheWayfaringWanderer In reply to BoneSatellite [2018-03-21 20:27:23 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah, that's right.  It started as a Kickstarter, but then it became an Indiegogo campaign (Doug Walker, a.k.a. Nostalgia Critic actually helped spread awareness to the campaign; he even had Don Bluth on his show!).  I actually donated some.  Technically, they met their goal, and even if it doesn't pan out, I'm glad we at least made the effort .
