Hey, can I ask you something? One of my watchers has asked me to do a commission for him involving his fursona and one of my OCs and It's an interesting idea so I want to do it but, having no experience whatsoever on doing commission work, I'm not sure what my work is worth so I don't know how much I should be charging him.
So; looking at my art, if you were to commission me for a piece, how much would you be willing to pay for my work? (USD)

What are they asking for? How long does it take you?
Ive not done many commissions before, but i do have a few experience being hired. Im not the best when it comes to knowing the value in things though.
most ppl when they are starting out charge 10-30 for a character, usually varying the price based on what is required.
if you are adding a background add in 5-15, depending on the detail.
With that in mind, gauge how valuable you feel the work/time is to you, and talk with the person looking for a commission. They obviously see your work as valuable, so dont be afraid to negotiate with them. You can always ask what they are willing to pay and see if the work is worth it to you. If not ask for more, and if they say no, then it ends there. The worst thing that can happen, is that it isnt worth your time, and you work on something else you feel is

Well, it takes a couple of hours on the page and after it's inked and scanned, it takes another couple of hours, especially if I'm shading and lighting. They're asking for a fight aftermath, probably coloured. Like the ones in this faves gallery: roadkill-sarny.deviantart.com/…
Yeah, I did ask him what he normally pays for his commissions and he said $40-$50. I get where you're coming from though. I'll take it on board. Thanks a lot for the advice. :3
