Okay, to put a picture on your profile- click on submit deviantion then under category choose deviantart related then deviantID. Once that's uploaded, go to your page, and click edit profile then userpage display down the list you'll see a place to pick the ID you just uploaded to display... I hope that'll help.

Umm... there's a thing called "notes". You go to whoever's page you want to talk to, I think it says send note or something like that- To add friends you have to go to their page also and click on watch deviant I think You can leave comments on people's pages too, the same place where you typed on your own.
