# About me

My earliest childhood memories have always involved doodling horses, unicorns and rainbows. Art was in my blood, as both my maternal Great-grandmother, maternal Grandmother and maternal Grandfather all had the creative gift. With horses, especially Arabians being my passion, I suppose it was only natural I started to fine tune the drawing of them as I aged.
Recently, I discovered leather working. It started as a Halloween costume idea for the White Mord-sith costume featured in Legend of the Seeker. It quickly turned into a craft that I truelly love. It is an incredible rush to turn something of death into a thing of incredible beauty.

Thanks for faving my flagons. I had someone asking me about dying leather white. Since I personally have not done this yet, I referred them to your very knowledgeble commentary on the subject. Hope you don't mind.

you do too, I've always wanted to do white leather but can't figure out how short of painting it, how did you do it? it looks amazing

White has definitely been the bane of my exsistance. I first tried white fiebrings which was a disaster. I was told paint would just crack, but that was the only way I could figure to get a good color. I used cova white and diluted it to water to make very thin coats. Took about 15 coats each piece with a brush. Cova as u may know only comes vin tiny bottles and I learned the hard way different shades of white. I mixed a lot together and got better results. I antiqued it with fiebrings antique paste in a custom shade of grey I made by mixing black and neutral together.
So far no cracking, however I believe the antique has reacted with the cova as the white is now more of a winter white.
Since doing this project I have made a white belt for a customer and inhale discovered the wonders of Angelus paints. Available in 63 colors and big bottles are available. Only four coats no dilution and nice even coverage. I then did a coat of their matte finisher before the antique and finished with some spray super sheen. It is still pearly white. I highly recommend all the angelus products.
Sorry for being long winded, I just like to help my fellow artisans!

no worries, where can one find angelus paints? have you ever tried an air brush with them? I find that when I use a brush I get stuff in the paint like little fluffs and stuff so I figure that an air brush if the paint is thinned out would work really well and could put some really thin coats on to prevent cracking... but you have obviously come up with something that works and works really well.
White leather always impresses me, and when it's done exceedingly well, like you have, it makes me sit up and take notice... thanks for the tip and I will have to experiment
