Hello, thanks for the information. I accepted the petition.
I miss old furry-cheek Sally, Antoine, Bunny and so on. But I believe that ship sailed a long time ago now. It was not only the characters but also the « feel » of SATAM. Something Sega never cared for.

Saw what you said under a comic from Pony-Berserker. If you want to know a little more about him:

I'm sorry for my late answer
I read your post before it was deleted (?) but it was some days ago.
I think he's not totally sincere : he doesn't have just fun even if he tells so; sometimes he is adamant about the fandom and stuff which annoys him. The last one with Sweetie Belle was about to make a point, not "fun".
But in the end, the show and nice people are more important than cranky ones, even if it's an artist
People forgets these crazy debates and move along.

Yes, I decided to remove the journal a few days ago, because I could feel that the whole thing started to wear me out. Not to mention that he went the route to paint me black towards Calpain on EQD, which almost got me banned there.
Still don't know if it was a good idea to delete it, though, as it leaves me as an easy target for revenge by him now, since I can't prove anymore that he's the bad guy who started with all of this.

drama-fandom. I might be too old for all of that
Take the high road. Again, in a few weeks no one will care about that. And EQD is just one site (even very useful), with too much work to keep tracks about every fans and disputes.Β

your article is still readable on google cache.

I'm even in love!
I dream to buy them and learn how you did them. And with Solidworks (!), I'm impressed.
And if they were posable rigged figures for Daz/Poser, I would buy them immediately. Even if one of yours is inspired by the second Drossel (a great design) there are not many bots like these on the market.
Thanks for your gallery and the whimsical characters.

Thank you very much. That sort of feedback makes me feel like I didn't do them for nothing
Yeah, I made them with SolidWorks, piece by piece. First I did a raw sketch on paper and then I just started doing the parts.
I'm working on how to convert these bots of mine to Blender. So it might be a possibility for DAZ/Poser in the future.
And I'm saving money for a 3D-printer... I always wanted to make them into figurines.

Good work is never for nothing, at least it's for ourself, to learn.

Of course Solidworks. It's a good tool for precise work.Β
In the university where I work, it's what teachers use for 3D printing.
But I never imagined to see that kind of design with it ^^,Β
You seem to have many project in mind, so I guess it will be a time before you try making figures for Daz.
I could commission you to help for the 3D printer, but I would be more interested by custom modelling than renders.
I'm doing some rendering myself and slowly learning Zbrush.
Customs figurines seems to be very interesting to make with all the stuff about materials, articulations and modelling. Good luck.

Thanx! Good luck with ZBrush!
I've got ZBrush, Blender, 3ds Max and Solidworks. I've used Solidworks since 2004 (work related) and I wish I would have started using those other programs a long time ago.
ZBrush seemed really hard to handle so I decided to start with Blender.
I've used 3ds Max for converting files only.Β
I want to make animations, so Blender is a good and free choice.
I started to do my own 3D models (figurines and such) last September. Before that I've only done "2D" models.
I could sell simple 3D models made with Solidworks, but not figurines. And you would have to convert those files yourself into other software than SW because I haven't done it successfully yet myself.

I choose Zbrush because I think the "voxel" approach is nicer, more artistic, to sculpt organic characters. Yes the interface is somewhat alien, but its tools are simple and works very well. Anyway I'm still learning polypaint, uv, subdivision and all that stuff. I use it to create morph for DAZ figurines.
Blender still confuses me, it's a whole world with everything dropped at you at launch. It's a very powerful software which can cover mostly all needs to make a movie. Quite daunting.Β
-
How much you would sell your models ? If I can afford them, it could interest me to push me to learn proper Blender and rigging. They are mechanical bots, so no need to learn weight mapping and the rigging could stay basic

ShadowLinkster In reply to Yupasama [2015-04-17 11:10:15 +0000 UTC]
I tried Zbrush, seemed quite easy to sculpt. Never decided to use it properly.
Model price is depending on the complexity of the model. One of mine took well over a week to make, another a day. So I can't decide any prices yet, for I haven't even thought of selling the models I make. Not yet anyway. Maybe in the future.Β Β

My pleasure, your figurines are quite cute and well made. I'm fond of your Sphinxy girl, I used her as a model to make a character in 3D. I would have bought her ^^,
