hai n_n
i was wondering if you made a pattern or anything for your zelda apron/drapery thing, cause im working on mine right now. but i've got no pattern to work by, and i'm very confused on which type of fabric to use.
any suggestions or advice?
thanks :3

As for fabric, I find it's best to use a thick white fabric that sort of feels like burlap. Also, make sure the fabric isn't fuzzy, fuzzy fabric is hard to paint on, the paint doesn't come out as crisp. As far as a pattern, this is the best I have: [link] it's not really a pattern, but it should help you make your own. You may have to tweak it to fit you better.

Oh, and one more thing, that pattern includes the seam allowances, and when sewing, it can be a little difficult trying to figure out how to fold some of those corners down, but trust me, there is a way to do it.

damnnnn.
if it werent for your printout templates i would've never gotten my cosplay done! THANK YOUUUUUU TT-TT
My cosplay is a combination of elements of Princess Zelda from Twilight Princess, Ocarina of Time, and Wind Waker. odd, i know XD i originally was going to do Twilight Princess, but lack of resources and time and my cheapness prevented me from doing so.
I'll submit pictures soon.
Many thanks!!!!!!!!! i am eternally grateful XD

Hi, there!
I was looking over deviantart for people who've cosplayed TP Zelda, and saw your Zelda pics. Your cosplay is so amazing! I'm wanting to do a Zelda cosplay, and was wondering if you'd mind if I asked you a few questions on how you did it?

Cool!
What did you use to make your armor and crown and such? It seems like most people use craft foam.

I used craft foam, it's nice and flexible and strong. I've heard of people using papier mache and--one of my favorites, used craft foam for the base and crayola model magic for the designs. I have a partial tutorial and a link to another tutorial right here: [link]

I think craft foam is what I'll use, then. Did you have any problem with it keeping its shape? Hmm, model magic looks like a neat idea, is that what you used for the armor design?
Another question, how did you make the the 'banner' that goes down the front of your dress?
Thanks lots for the tutorial! That'll definitely come in handy.

To make craft foam armor, you have to glue fabric on the back, and once you do that, it'll stay that way for life. [link] explains all about it.
I did not use model magic on my armor, though I am planning to try it next time. I just used a second layer of craft foam. My favorite cosplayer, used model magic on top, and I love how it looks. The texture of model magic is very similar to craft foam. It is, however, extremely breakable. I tried to make a crown out of it and it broke 7 times. I suspect though, that if you glue it to craft foam, that might be enough to support it.
For the banner, I sewed it out of a thick, white, non-streachy fabric, and then the rest was painting. Here's a close-up: [link]

Yes, I discovered that tutorial website last week, it'll be extremely helpful.
Hmm, what kind of paint did you use on your banner? Would acrylic work?
