I am alright ta. I've been busy photographing more old cathedrals and churches. Also dabbling in the dark arts of HDR. I haven't been doing HDR to get the HDR effect, as I LOATH that, more to get the details in the dark areas and light areas which you can't get with one exposure. The best HDR photogaphs are ones that you don't realise it is a HDR, like not in your face over processed. (rant over with).
Anyways here are two hdr photographs that I have created recently
Lancaster Cathedral : [link]
Bury Parish Church : [link]
What do you think of them? Hopefully not too over processed. I only use HDR if I absolutely have to.
Good to hear you are settling. I'd like to wish you a merry christmas and happy new year. I look forward to seeing more of your new work on Devaint Art.

I'm completely with you on over-processed HDR photos. I hate how distorted many of them are. One of the worst culprits I've seen was of someone who had totally ruined their photos of a Cotswold village by HDR-ing them to death. Not pretty!
I've left a comment on the Bury photo, but I'll reiterate that you've done a super job on the pair of them, the photos are enhanced but not unnaturally so. Brava!

Thank you m8e! I only use HDR when I absolutely have to which are normally churches. Cathedrals don't normaly need HDR, it depends how they are lit inside. Hope you have settled in to your new place alright and would like to wish you a merry christmas and happy newyear.

Summer weather finally! Mind you it is only a few days until the longest day, then after that we are heading into winter again. As for me I plan on visiting a few cathedrals soon. How are you doing m8e?

I'm alright despite a cold (how? It's June!) Been to Battle Abbey and battlefield. Very interesting, especially as it was a close run thing for William the Conqueror, if the English were better disciplined we might not have had Norman rule, it's one of those major events that makes one think 'what if?'

I had a bloody cold last week and felt extremely drained. Took a day or two to recover my energy levels back to normal. Battle re-enactment? Sounds like fun. Hope you get better soon m8e.

aberlioness In reply to kippa2001 [2012-06-18 21:12:24 +0000 UTC]
No re-enactment sadly, Battle is the actual place where the 'Battle of Hastings' took place. Ironically, the battle took place about 8 miles away from Hastings itself, on a wooded hill called Senlac (hoary apple tree in Old English) Hill. The town of Battle grew up around the time that the Abbey was built in the 1090s.

I think I am starting to run out of places to photograph in Lancashire.
I am rather restricted to public transport at the moment. Ideally I'd like to go down futher to the south end of the UK as there are quite a few nice cathedrals that look quite tempting.
How are you doing m8e? Are you doing alright?

After leaving school I did shit at gcses. I went on to college then finally on to uni and got a higher cert in education in the subjects of Biology and Psychology.
Even though I have got a uni qualification, I still decided to resit my gcse English to bump up my grade. Today I have just finished the final exam and am in a good mood now that it is all over.
I need it for quite a few reasons, first of all for job opportunity, but also because you need at least a grade c or above in English for a degree in photography, which I am contemplating. I got a D when I was at high school.

Good luck with your exams, I'm sure that you've passed with flying colours, I hope that it leads to success in your career and if you do decide to do the photography course - which you should do really well at!
