Hi there...

Life's been generally as entertaining as usual. Started my academic year at last at Matieland, now just grasping the science of cooking for the first time. Spent some time in the backwaters of the world (Transkei/Coffee Bay) which was strange and wonderful and reminiscent of Heart of Darkness. Otherwise, all is well.

true. I became concerned about that very fact a few months ago when I wrote that journal entry concerning the downfalls of reading. In general I'm more of a party-creature and a writer (more out-put than in-take orientated), but sometimes I go into stealth-mode and vanish into the realms of literature to recooperate a bit. Living on the edge, I guess. Furthermore, I just spent the day in Gouda drinking white beer (great! you can't get it in South Africa) and looking at boys. Not a book in sight

I hope this serves as a worthy testament to my healthy living and good mental state! Thanks for the kind concern though, if concern it was, or merely a quality brand of tongue-in-cheek How does it feel to be back in the Land of the Brave?

Hallelula! I am glad to hear it. I know you had written something to that effect but I thought you had returned to your book lovin' ways. The reason I was so concerned is probably personal -when we were on the Great Barrier Reef and again in Fiji, there was a faculty member in the group that never went in the water, but read (in my opinion) a really dry, less than factual book on a historical figure. He claimed he knew how to swim. I just though-we're here in a place like no other and a book is how time here is spent! I know I should mind my own buisness.

It is very good to hear you are doing what you should be doing -enjoying your youth and oportunities I hope you have a great time doing that (I am curious what white beer is). As far as Land of the Brave, pretty damned good thank you! I did manage to bring home bronchitis so this is more like Land of the Currently Feeling Rather Meek and Tired. But good to be home.

Glad to know I don't have to start a book burning crusade in your memory over here.

I'm up to my nosehairs in pencil shavings already! I'm preparing to go to Brussels in May to do some work there, and its an incredible amount I have to wade through. At times I wish I could be like Moses and part this sea of responsibility straight to the airplane and the flight and the beautiful city.
...How are you keeping? I haven't really had time to look at other's deviations or pages - how did your gallery shows go with your sculptures? They are very beautiful and they often cross my mind.
