Here in my province in Canada, they are planning to send kids in the elementary grades back to school gradually and will be restarting to open businesses. In terms of statistics, we’ve got 50000 cases of infected and among that 20000 who recovered and 2900 who died unfortunately. It’s tough, but we’re trying to keep our heads up. The family is okay as well.Β

You are using a 'Web' or 'Flash Catalyst' Document profile, which has a property called 'Align New Objects to Pixel Grid' turned ON by default. This property can be found in the New Document dialog (under Advanced) or in the Transform panel flyout menu. This property helps in creating clean, sharp graphics for the Web & this is a new feature in Illustrator CS5.

You can turn this OFF to create strokes (horizontal/vertical) with less than 1pt weight.

Several folks have already answered this a long while ago and the issue is now resolved, but thanks anyway!

Cheers.

sorry - just read further on and see that it got fixed!

hellilabelli [2012-03-12 08:36:40 +0000 UTC]

Tried adding to the query about the line point sizing problem but thread is closed - had the same problem and think I have the fix.

When you create a new doc - make sure the check box: 'Align New Objects to Pixel Grid' at the bottom of the New Doc dialogue is unchecked.

For good information:

[link]
STROKE WEIGHT: With Align to Pixel Grid turned on, it’s impossible to specify fractional stroke widths, as they don’t align to the pixel grid. For example, if you try to give a rectangle a stroke weight of .5pt, Illustrator will automatically change the stroke weight to 1pt. Illustrator will always round to the nearest full integer, so a stroke weight of 1.4 becomes 1 and a stroke weight of 1.5 becomes 2, etc.

Hope this is universal fix and I haven't given you duff info.

Hel

Love your artwork. Did you ever figure out that stroke weight issue in illustrator? I'm having the same problem.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

amade In reply to justbucky [2012-02-14 04:49:06 +0000 UTC]

If you meant the stroke width resetting to 1pt, ~swissgrid has provided the answer:

- it's an "Align to Pixel Grid" setting that's causing the stroke to stay at 1pt since fractional stroke weights cannot be aligned to a pixel grid. (conversely, if you tried a 1.5 pt stroke, it will round up to the next whole number.)

so:
- when creating a new document, uncheck "Align New Objects to Pixel Grid" under the Advanced drop down menu.

- if you're already working in your document and run into this issue, you can select the artwork, go to the Transform panel and uncheck the "Align to Pixel Grid" checkbox

- if you're already working in your document and never again want a newly created object to be aligned to the grid, go to the Transform panel, go to the flyout menu on the top right and uncheck "Align New Objects to Pixel Grid."

Hope that helps!

Haha, my dA account is pretty much inactive... I only ever login to check out if there are any new stuff friends have posted xD

Maybe one of these days I'll actually upload new works into this account, but first I gotta finish renovating my website (a long procrastinated project >.> ).

How're you doin' these days?

dinjerr In reply to amade [2010-10-04 16:58:14 +0000 UTC]

Working in an ad agency. It should like, be helping with my creativity and all, but in reality it's the opposite. I'm mostly dead by the time I get home. +_+

Ad agencies are where they milk and leech the creativity out of you! (j/k)

Well I suppose it's still better than having to fully rely on self-employment. Having pay slips and supporting bank statements does help in getting a loan for a house and stuff like that.

Well, actually the folks in the family have a habit of consolidating birthdays into one so we already had a makan-makan to celebrate 3 people's birthdays including mine about a month ago. So when the actual birthday came around it went past quite unawares.

'course we had cake. I even got one special small one which my mom secretly stashed in the fridge for my later consumption. I hardly touched the joint-birthday cake.

Oooo... That's tough. Hmmm... when during the weekdays? Dinner? Supper?

Haven't met ya since my farewell party, I think... that makes it about 2 and a half years? That's a long time...

Was thinking of asking Mel (she's normally free weekends though), Pui Yee (I think as long as her work isn't in overtime and I chaffeur her around, should be fine) (And maybe Darren?) to see when they're free.

July's a good month for you?

hey dear, i asked pui yee and mel about going out with us. they offered either 8th or 15th july for dinner. where shall we meet up? mel's workplace along jalan puchong (the beginning of puchong coming from old klang road) and pui yee's workplace is in KL (along jalan raja chulan).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

amade In reply to ladywinters [2010-07-02 15:05:44 +0000 UTC]

Heck, I've limited knowledge of KL meself. Anywhere parking isn't a hassle or close to an LRT station would be fine I suppose.

Would be good to meet up with Mel and Pui Yee too, been a while since I've seen them as well.
