1. Yes, I wanted the girl to blend in a bit with the background, maybe not quite as much as she does lol.

2. Nope, not oil pastels for Hat Trick.. it was a combination of stuff.. mostly ink and watercolor pencils. The smudgey-ness was mostly done in photoshop.

Thanks a lot for the comment you made on "Nobody said it was easy" that i submitted to "bw-photography" group. And i hope that this doesnt come off as a shallow thanks: Its not.

The darkness, but not silhouette, of the figure was cruicial. Its a very ambiguous style. But lighting few aspects, including his face, and leaving the rest, it gives him human qualities so the viewer can relate, but it also doesnt define every portion, so hes not one specific person: hes all the homeless.

Even tho lighting was hard to control, the best i could do was get him under a construction canopee and have him face the light. Id say it worked well
