# About me
My name is Emily. I love art... obviously.I've been drawing all my life, but I began to get more serious in about 2005 when I discovered a book about manga at the book store. My dad (being so kind and generous as he is) bought it for me and I began to study it (though now I tend to stray away from anime. Though I can appreciate it, it's just not my style).
Another factor that lead into me becoming an artist was when my mom brought home a couple of sketchbooks for my sister and I. It didn't really catch with Elyssa (she's more of a left-brainer), but I really began to enjoy holding a pencil and learning how to make marks on the paper become something with more depth. I had found my niche.
Emmy Cicerega has been a great influence on me. I have been following her livejournal since 2006, devouring every work of art she has created and hungering for more. She is a wonderful artist, and I hope to be as good as she is one day. She also unknowingly introduced me to photoshop when I learned that it was her preferred medium. In 2007 I bought the program for my desktop macintosh, and less than a year later I bought myself a tablet (thank god for summer jobs!).
I have been practicing with photoshop ever since I got it, but had only really been getting into it when I decided to set up a Deviantart. I felt like my art had purpose, as I could share it with the world, and recieve feedback, and meet and possibly collaborate with other artists.
Along with my love for drawing, over the years I have developed a love for art in general, and anything that has to do with freedom of expression. I am all about expressing myself, as I feel I have so much to express. I began writing ever since I could read, and I have three drawers of half-filled and half finished stories to prove it. I'm always working on something.
I have completed a handful of songs, though I don't really plan on doing anything with them. A band would be cool. I love to sing. And act. I'm usually in the school play.
