Hey! That's a good question.
Mostly it's the look. I was just messing with Apophysis and thought "these are cool" and threw them up here.
I've never really understood the maths behind apophysis fractals so i can't say if that's part of what i like about them (and i'm now going to look it up). But for standard fractals, as in ones you can draw freehand (like that one in The Lost World book), i really do like that maths is able to describe beautiful things.
so i suppose the answer is both.
sorry for the ramble. this is the first time someone's asked me a question about these that's made me think about it.

That's okay I am studying maths at Uni and have an invested interest in art and maths so anything that combines the two I adore. I think you have amazing artworks. Does that mean that some of them you drew freehand? That's incredable I use a computer program when I make them but I haven't done that in a while all you do is type the maths equation into the program and it shows you what it would be like as artwork.
I think I have rambled as much as you have, though don't worry your interesting enough that it's not so noticable that you are rambling

so i looked on wikipedia [link] maybe someone who studies maths can help me make sense of this? i get the iterations but not how the histogram is plotted...
