I voted remain, despite the emergence of TTIP I could see a future when the whole of Europe and in the fact the world was united as we are one species on one small planet. The referendum was just that a referendum with no real legal binding, Cameron resigned so he wouldn't have to deal with the fallout he created. We now have a prime minister modelled on thatcher who Reagan really liked and is so far right it scares me. We are buying dodgy F35B's and are building submarines carrying trident which is under the sole control of the US. Yes Gary I am worried and am glad i live near to a first strike target,

Any tips on how I can keep a large fish tank cool? I've been doing everything Lindsay says but it doesn't seem to be working all the time, especially when I'm at work for 9 hours.
I closed off the blinds, run the AC in the morning and at night while I'm home, unplugged the heater, and pour cold water into the tank. Is there anything else I could try? I was thinking about using the rotating fan next to the tank when I'm at work all day

Sometimes adding a large bubble stone (one of the wide ones) connected to a fairly large air pump can help bring the temperature down. Put the pump on the floor where the coolest air is at. Make sure the thermostat on your heater is working right, too. Generally speaking, the fish can stand a rise in temperature--it's dips that will kill them. Rising water temps will also drive some fish to breed. So will lowering the water level. (Angel fish & discus fish are like that. Lower the water level and up the temperature, and they start laying eggs to preserve the race.)
Putting a fan near the tank would only help (a bit) if you take the cover lid and light off the tank so the air movement would cause evaporation. Fans don't actually change the temperature--it just feels cooler because your sweat evaporates on your skin and makes you feel cooler. Also, don't leave the light on any more than you have to. Even fluorescent lamps generate heat. (They also promote algae growth.) Depending on what kind of fish you have in the tank, you might need to put a piece of screen over the top of the tank to keep the little devils from jumping out. (Gouramis are bad about that. So are some barbs.)
Otherwise, I can't help you. I never worried much about the water getting warm. Even Los Angeles Summer hot. But if your place gets REALLY hot during the day... you might have to start running that air conditioner a little bit.

i have been running the air conditioner in the morning and in the evening. its an older one so if we run it for too long it starts to freeze up on the inside. only second time its done this, but I have to leave it off for the entire day so it can defrost.

A bit humid, huh?
Mine loads up with ice during the day trying to dehumidify the air, and I can hear the compressor cycling on and off. It finally thaws out during the night most nights. It depends on the actual temperature outside. I need to turn it off, let it thaw completely and then clean the condenser and evaporator. I'm sure they're filthy, since there isn't a filter in the system.

TPP The Dirtiest Trade Deal You've Never Heard OfSo I usually don't take a part in these kinds of things, but when the topic of limiting internet freedom and privacy comes back, I'm feeling honestly very bothered. Especially when I recall how the government tries to enforce the laws limiting internet for some time already (SOPA, ACTA). The topic comes back under different names and different forms and the only thing that changes is its name and how much more sneaky they are trying to be about it. This time though the thing is so much bigger than before and covers up many different, important aspects of our everyday lives.
And this is something what is happening right now, even though we are meant to be not aware of that. Please read this journal, or at least watch the video and please try to spread the word. I know you may think you alone make no difference, but believe me you do. A whole lot of people have no idea about it, possibly just as you didn't know till now and I think we have to be aware

I know that it's been a hot button topic with the right wing FB crowd. This is all part of the Obama 'fast track' trade deal that he got past because of all of the RINOs.
Obama has already agreed to give up US control of the base internet... and Congress just rolled over and played dead.
All of this is sufficient for me to keep my powder quite dry and ready to use.
Obama is trying as hard as he can to incite a race war.

Oh I know that. Everything lately is all about the race card. It's ridiculous. I could care less if you were black, white, red, yellow or blue. I wouldn't matter to me. I do think it's horrible that they want to ban the confederate flag and the general lee from Dukes of Hazard. In fact that show has nothing to do with race! It's just the fact that the general lee has the confederate flag on it. It's just so stupid.
