Man I've made takes and takes and retakes and mistakes to be followed by cutting and pasting techniques. I've been making trance and jungle for years and damn near every one EVERY FUCKING ONE uses each others beats, samples, remixes etc.... Fuck, you can here the same dope sounds in a hundred different songs by a hundred different people. Look at our mainstream hip hop/rap artists who remix songs from the 80's.
Even if the self photo's came off to people as narcistic (sp?) they were still done well.
