It may take a while, because I tend to avoid the internet when I'm writing, but I'll give one back.
Sunset on the Cloud Kingdom The sun hugged the fields behind the house. They were bursting with knee-high greenery above the rust red clay. The wind blew through the small spaces between the slowly withering leaves, caressing and rustling them like debutante dresses.
A woman and a boy sat on the back porch of the house, looking out at the plants. A small plume of smoke escaped from the woman’s lips as she lowered her cigarette. She exhaled the rest in a long, slow breath, creating a cloud that hung in the thick air.
The boy fidgeted, unable to stand the potential in the air, the almost-silence that made the humidity seem insignificant.
“Gramm Mechanical Shop6 o’clock. She went to smash snooze, but her alarm sprouted wings and flew away, blaring.
Downstairs, the wares began to rustle. Showtime.
