i've had a teacher or two like that. in a class of ENTIRELY PROJECTS, my midterm and final were always at least 50% bullshit/ last-minute, thrown together bullshit, but i always came out with As. on, like, EVERYTHING. i don't know how. i'm pretty sure i was just one of his favorite students or something, because there's really no other explanation i can think of.

May...be...? She didn't seem like the type to do that. But it's either she decided I was a good student early on and let that influence her grading (I've had teachers do that with me before), or I'm better at BSing than the other (admittedly only five) people in that class. (Everyone but the six of us got scared off reeeeeally quickly.)
Well, I definitely didn't have any last-minute bullshit in there. But see, my last paper had to be on one of the topics from this "Communities of Practice" book we'd just suffered through, which was basically about workplace literacies (which does not actually mean the ability to read at work, but... it's complicated). I chose the concept of "identity," of course tied to the workplace, since the workplace was the point of the book we'd been reading. My bullshitting was taking up space by explaining the different "identities" and literacies in the different jobs I'd had. Technically it was related. I knew it was mostly BS, but she might have honestly thought it contributed to my argument, since I worked very hard to make it seem that way (I just needed more stuff to fill up space, and couldn't come up with anything else related).

My last humanities class was like yours. We had three papers; the first and last were in-class and the second was take-home. I didn't think I did that great on my first in-class, but I impressed my teacher so much she called me out in class to tell everyone I got the only 100% (apparently she doesn't read very good papers much, as a history professor, because she was so happy I'd used quotes appropriately and reasoned through things and bothered underlining the titles of books). The second paper I wrote in an hour and a half and didn't bother to proofread, and I think she just gave me a 100% without looking at it, because it was faaaaaar from perfect, in particular for an out-of-class essay.
