I really like your gallery, especially the candid b&w photos of people that you get... First, they're very good. Second, I'm way too shy to raise a camera at someone I don't know, so I envy that type of photography. Your comments about the pictures are great, too.

I use a Canon 30D usually with an 85 f/1.8 lens. Rarely I'll have to break out the kit lens that came with it (18-55 f/3.5-5.6) but I try to avoid using that one.
Just picked up a Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 yesterday so I'll be playing around with that soon.
I do my b&w conversion in Photoshop. I use to use the channel mixer but now CS3 has some nice conversion tools to control each hue's affect on luminance.
Most of the post work is done in Camera RAW plugin w/ selective tweaks (dodging/burning/etc) in the main package.

I only started taking photos about a year ago, and Ive had a good around of success with it. Before I started I had no idea how to work a real camera, but thankfully Ive always had an eye for it and have turned out some amazing shots. I wanted to say to you that I am blown away by your work, your photos are heartfelt and poetic, but when I understand your thought process it brings a whole new level of validity to the work. Ive been trying so hard to do HDR or some other technique to make my photos special. Seeing your stuff reminds me that pretty pictures are fine, and these days are a dime a dozen. Every shot on your visual around Hollywood was fascinating. Capturing what mattered and leaving everything else out. Even your GF I fell in love with for a moment wishing that, well damn it she deserved to see the koalas. Your work is really beautiful, I hope that you continue I believe you have the potential to go very far with it.

Yeah sure is. It hurt quite a bit, but I still have to go get some touch ups on it after the play, stupid acting preventing me from altering my image more than it already is.
