That is an excellent thought. Your consideration, in shorter terms, that our connection throught the net, that tightens the web of humanity into a singular organism. This furthering mutation as a species, a mild alteration of the Darwinian theory. I am actually very inclined to agree. If you follow the possible evolutionary path that led to our ability to communicate, it leads quite logically to mass communication between the individuals of our species. I am not sure if this multi-conciousness can be considered a true evolutionary step, but there doesn't really seem to be a restriction to the theory of only physical mutation.
Globalization it seems, was the only real growth we could maintain. And look at the speed! Over the last 100 years, with the acceptance of the telephone, and multiplicity, and the advent of the computer, and internet... time and space have become irrelevant.
Your friend has a great point about different cultures response to the individual mutation versus mass change. A good lens to approach that with, is the idea of so-called "westernization". It is odd to think about, but most cultures, thanks to our new communicative abilities, have sort of joined in a mish-mash of styles, recycling and conglomerating at a rate that appears to be exponential.
Breeding and genetic lines seem to be following the same lines, thanks to fast travel. Have you ever heard that odd racist joke about our future as a mild brownish-gray race of similar looking blokes? All watered down into some kind of super neutral species, with equal mixes of all the races.
I dunno if globalization on a species level is a blessing or a curse, that remains to be seen, but you can be damned sure, it will, and is changing everything as we know it! It is a huge and amazing thought. I look forward to being around for some of the most astounding mutations in thinking, form, and understanding. It'll be a hell of a ride.

Most definately with you on looking forward to seeing the new mutations, but i think they will manifest themselves more as a mental and psychological presense as opposed to the physical in our lifetime.
Einstien theorized that one day the human race will eventually shed its physical self for a purely information or energy based self. I'm not sure how I feel entirely about the truth of this one day occurring, but with the evolution of globalization and the speed at which things happen now, I see the physical human manipulating sciences to gain information from a digital to a physical form (lol, like matrix head plugs and shit).
::shrugs:: I don't know, if you look at it all evolution, on many macrolevels has been speeding up and improving it's process, so just perhaps we will see or participate in these things happening before we pass away.

in my backyard we have pigeon pets lol... this is my secret.... you go out to the back yard... run around like a crazy person... scare the heck out of the pigeons... they fly around ^^ (thats where the flight pictures are taken) then they land on the roofs... and do strange things like walk around and peck each other lol
