Oh, thanks for asking I've been working on some things on and off! Just basic things... like flowers - I can't put too much creativity in since I'm still a beginner, haha I'm running out of paint, though!

Nice, it's good you are still trying the easy stuff. Haha yeah I know your problem, no a days I have 2/3 tubes of every color. Every time they have sales I buy a lot

Thanks, I'm doing fine. Made a lot of stuff last few days. I had the week off, so no work and lot's of time to paint. Which is great Now work is started again, and me and my boyfriend are waiting for the key to our appartment, so that's exciting.

Maybe you should just give drawing a rest for a little bit because you're getting frustrated? Sometimes, stepping back from stuff REALLY helps.


Lets see... I've been going to tons of slumber parties lately so I'm almost never on chat anymore. I just got back from one AND omg they made me a cake (second one I've gotten from my frands, wtf) and gave me this awesome new purse


I mean last year, I like didn't even celebrate my birthday...

Hallo!

Yes! I did some art experimenting the other day! It was with water colors. I just painted a pot of flowers on a window sill - pretty straight forward stuff. Mostly cream colors, blue for the sky, and purple-pink for the orchids.


Of course, while opening a tube of paint the paper wrapped around it gave me a paper cut! It was painful. Maybe the world doesn't want me to paint, hahaha

I'd love to see some of your older works (hopefully you can find them!)

I want painting lessons so desperately - my school schedule (I start on Tuesday) was messed up (I only had TWO classes second semester) and there was NO ART TWO! So, hopefully they'll give me my art class while they fix the rest of my classes.

As you can see the first one is simple basic stuff, and the second one is made 1 ore 2 years later. It's with a bit more of my own style and ideas in it.

Mm, I started painting when I was 14 years old I quess. Since then up until I was 18 years old I visited art classes in the evening houres once in a week. After that I just painted at home, and still do. I like that more, cause I can focus on my own ideas. Although I learned a lot from that periode, and I still have to learn lots of new things.

I /am/ an art collector... only online, haha! *thumps chest like a gorilla*

How exactly did you start to paint? Was it with watercolor, acrylic, or oil maybe? I just had my first experience with acrylic painting the other day when my sister and I got to paint on the wall before it gets knocked down during the renovations we're having.

Ohh~ I would love art classes, I mean, I knooww I need them... but I don't think they're really an option for my family (most of the money goes to fixing the house, hahah).

I started with just drawing and painting with acrylic. I don't have much experiance with watercolor or oils, so I still use acrylic the most. I think it's nice to use cause it dries rather quickly, and it doesn't smell like oils do haha With watercolors you lose the controle, I have that problem, cause I'm not used to work with watercolors. When you make one stroke you can't go back, or paint over it. With acrylic you can. So also for you I think acrylic is a good starter.
Oils dry very slowly, so when you use more layers of paint the colors can get mixed when you don't want them to mix haha, and then you have to wait for ages to fix it..

Did you enjoy the painting?
You can just start with small works at home, just to try it out some more. Just don't expect to much of yourself, cause when you do it will always be a bummer when you're finished. But when you just experionce and have fun with it it will work! You shouldn't see my paintings from when I was 14. They where not bad, but to say good is something totally different haha. Propotions where not right, strange colors and such but from your falts you learn right?

THANK YOU!! That was really, really great advice! Especially the whole thing with 'not expecting TOO much' because I do that a lot. I see what I want to get down on the paper but ... it's never that easy and it NEVER ends up right when I finish. I seriously want art lessons (plus, then I won't have to worry about eating up the paint supply). It would be so awesome to see your paintings from when you were 14! Has painting always been your favorite form of art? Were you ever interested in other things? Like drawing... sculpting, etc.

I did enjoy the painting! I wasn't totally sure what I was planning to do when I put my brush to work - but it ended up just being a moon, stars, and some clouds (pretty simple). I used SOOOO much paint and half the paint I used just got COVERED by other paint ... so I felt like I was wasting it, haha

I never have any idea what to do with colors; I'm hopeless! Question; do you just paint a picture or do you sketch out a design beforehand?

I'm sorry for the late respond, buzzy last week, cause my boyfriend and I are looking for a home.. When I'm home (now at my boyfriend house) I could make a photo of my art from when I was younger, I shall see what I can find
I always likes painting the most, cause it's a quick medium, with a pencil you have to work so presice And I would love to follow some art classes for sculpting. I never did that, only made some small thing at home, but I would love to learn more about that. I think it's awesome to do, but I have to learn a lot

Haha, I know what you mean by wasting paint, but I think you never waste any when you paint over it, over and over again. Simply because your not happy with how it is, and you re-paint it. If your happy after one time, or after then it was worth it. You only waste it if you trow the paint left on the plate away..

I depents.. Most of the time I have an idea in what kind of style I want to paint, I never sketch it, but it's just in my head. I make some markings and lines on my canvas and then I begin painting. Before I do I chose some colors I think would look pretty with the painting. Very mood depending
Sometimes I do sketch before making something, I you look at the painting with the little girl in it, that's all planned most of the time, before I paint it on my canvas. I make the sketches in my little sketch book, they are only 5x10 cm large.

And with the colors, you should just play with it, mix different colors. So you can see what it would look like when you use it on a real canvas. Always have fun with it haha!

It would be fantastic to see some of your work when you were younger.. just to get a general idea and to see how far you've come! So you've really kept art from your younger years? That's cool - you must be organized, haha

Ughh, clay. I really dislike that stuff... it's just not my style (plus half the things I've 'sculpted' break in the kiln... not exactly encouraging).

You have so many good ideas, I'm learning a lot from you!!! It's really cool that you have most of ideas in your head, you're so creative

Just as a note... my parents are getting my kitchen redone (starting tomorrow), since this is where the computer is the internet connection box it PROBABLY going to be disconnected for a couple weeks... so if I don't respond that would be the reason.
