As some of you may have noticed, the forum is dead. I couldn't justify spending any more money on something that doesn't get used, so the site's down too.
If any of you are really interested in bringing Gearhedz back from the dead, let me know, and we'll get some ideas together. Otherwise, huge waste of time for me.

i was just looking trhough the latest edition of a dicast brosure i get (Grand Prix Ledgends, incase any of you know it) and it now seems you can get all manner of modified diecast models, most based on fast and furious cars, but some others, and it brough back memories of me a few old friends of mine and modifying diecast models as a young teenager, i was just wondering, before the F&F diecast models, did any of you guys modify your own diecast models, incase your memory needs jogging, ill give a few example of what me and my friends did:
there are 2 ways to go about it; i'll call one The Sean Way and the other The Liam Way after the friends i did it with;
The Sean Way:taking paper and coulouring it in the colour of the car and adding details such as air intakes, then cuting it to the shape of spoilers. we usually used 1:43 sized models as they weren't too large so it stood out and not too small to be fidily. I even remember spending an evening over night in his room creating and assembling a rear spolier/wing to go on the back of one of our creations, i do believe in a bag in the attic above my head right now some of the creations may still be lurking.
The Liam Way Taking all our diecast models, we then used screwdrivers to take them all completely to bits, and then assembled our own creations, some that spring to mind are a Mini with Diablo wheels and a smart car with dual exausts off a viper patrooding from the side, not quite as fun as the Sean Way, 1) becasue the creations are limited, and 2) when you've used all the decent part you are left with only crappy combinations; the mini wheels ended up on a TVR Speed 12 
were my friends and I the only people who did this? anyone do the same or similar?

Trying to take some close-ups of a 30th anniversary Trams Am badge and the damn alarm started going off; must have breathed too heavily.
Oh well, the damn thing was an automatic. For crying out loud. Who, in their right mind, would go buy a Trans Am, without a friggin' stick? If they weren't cutting the F-bodies, I'd petition GMC to label all base model F-bodies and those with automatic transmissions as the GRL models.
