You right, I think it's Tibetan or Nepalese script. It's what they call a Mantra and says.
'Aum Mani Padme Hum'
A broken down translation of that would be.....
Aum - The root syllable of creation, total reality.
Mami - Meaning 'jewel' and a synonym for 'vajra' a word which means 'diamond','thunderbolt' and 'male organ.
Padme - Meaning 'in the lotus' which is a synonym for the manifest world and the female organ.
And Hum - which stands for the highest stage of enlightenment.
' Hail the jewel in the lotus flower....'
..You see this everywhere in Nepal... on chortens, flags and prayer wheels.
A prayer wheel is a cylindrical metal or wooden object, which contains this mantra, often written many thousands of times...they are sometimes turned by water but more often by passers by, monks or pilgrims....The idea being that they are continually repeating the mantra....and thus showering blessings and peace on the world in general...
.....The word 'Avatar' itself is Hindi or Sanskrit and is a word for the physical or worldly manifestation of a God or Deity.
