He's solid, but in a very different way from his predecessors. I agree with a saying that got tossed around a few months ago: "JPII said 'here's what we believe', Benedict said 'here's why we believe it', and Francis says 'OK, so go do it.'" I'm not sure I approve of his prioritization (but then, that's why no one wants me to be pope!), but with an institution as massive as the Catholic Church, it's hard to fault him, and he's done a lot of good work so far.

How's that? Your thoughts?

Pretty much where I am, too. I like that he seems to live simply and walk the walk. I think a Pope should be visible and among the people. If a kid is comfortable climbing up on stage and hugging him, he's doing it right.

I'm a little biased, too - my younger brother's name is Francis. That said, I haven't really seen enough of him yet to say or form an opinion, you know? Time will tell. So far, so good, though!

I'm hopeful. Benedict was an academic, really. There's a place for that, but I think a people person is needed. If Francis can decisively and realistically handle the problem, I might just find my way back to Mass again.

You're welcome! I've been okay, actually. I had a nice holiday, my coursework/exams were fine, and I've had a few weeks of unprecedented creative output - drawing and writinghave been great! I've written another 9000 words to my story and it's a little over 64,000 words now. And I've done some nice pictures. Apart from having seriously messed up my sleeping pattern, I'm feeling good and well-rested, and my first day of the semester has been good. And I didn't fail at the rehearsal of Mahler Symphony No.1! And how about you, me dear? How have you been keeping?

Wow! Sounds great. Creativity is always nice, as is feeling good and being well-rested and all that other lovely stuff.

I'm doing quite well, actually. I graduate in May (very excited about that). I'm pretty much just in survival mode at this point; just make it to the end of this semester. I have five recitals this semester - I accompany three, there's my own solo organ recital, and then a composition recital. It's mildly terrifying, but I think I'm sort of looking forward to it. So... yeah, I've been really busy and am going to continue to be crazy busy, but it's okay because after this semester, I finally get a breather.

Hopefully, all that lovely stuff will last at least a bit longer - it's always a shame when it all goes and university just feels like a hard slog without any interest or fun to it. And wow, May? You know, final year of school, applying for university, retaking a few exams so that I don't get a bad grade (I got a U in my Music composition last year ), worrying over Art, doing interviews and auditions, making progress with Gemwing (I only have two more chapters to rewrite before I'll let myself do a quick revision and send it to you! I might even be done by the end of the year! )... I'm managing. How goes it for you?

Final year of school? Hooray! And as for writing... yes, the writing progress is always a good thing, I think.

For me? Eh, it goes a little too quickly. I've been putting in 100/110+ hour weeks - there isn't much room to slack off. I have my first recital coming up in a month, too, so I'm more than a little stressed about that. Overall, though, life isn't bad... it just needs to settle down a little bit so I can catch up, you know?

Hooray indeed! Of course, it's going to be hectic, but boy am I looking forward to the exams being over.

...That's... averaging at about 62% of your life... wooow... Though I totally know what the stress is like at the moment, this month is completely overwhelming me with all the stuff I have to do, even if I'm not working quite that many hours! I hope the recital goes well, and that you have some time to slow down and relax soon.

Depends on the definition of okay... I don't have time to breathe, but everything's running very smoothly this semester. I'm slowly getting my life back in order after letting it just go to pieces since I first started college. The process is good() just... very time consuming!
