also, I was reminded of our conversation about japanese television by seeing a news story about how on a prank show in Japan they made a guy believe that he was in the middle of a shootout. Now when he's in an actual gun battle, he's just gonna think it's a big joke!

Oh god, that Japanese man was like ME during the "incident" here a few weeks ago. Have you ever heard of Nasube? I wish that I could find it, but he was a Japanese comedian who was locked up in an apartment for a year naked, and the only way that he could survive was if he won food by entering these contests where you fill out a postcard with your name and address on it...and he had no idea that the whole thing was being filmed, and that he became this huge celebrity.

For the lols. They actually had a group of comedians try out for this reality show, but they were told that it was for a comedy variety show. Poor Nasubi had NO IDEA what he was getting himself into...[link]
