How's the exam trauma going? I can't really reply to your messages, you wouldn't believe how I've been stuffing my brains with information lately. Very interesting info though – geopolitics! (haha, I just composed an en-dash (Unicode value 0x2013), maybe one day I shall be fit for an office after all)

lol The exams haven't begun yet, although the procrastination of the teachers is indeed impressive I'm glad you're stuffing yourself with information you're actually interested in What's an en-dash and what's it used for generally? (It doesn't matter whether you comply to the office/9-5 job system or not, because it's all crap and a waste of life anyways!).

I stumbled into the jungle of dashes myself only recently, and this is what I learned. An en-dash is a dash with the length of a lowercase 'n' in common print. There's also an em-dash which, guess what, matches the length of a lowercase 'm'. I have sort of a programming background, and programmers are notorious for refusing to use anything other than "lower ASCII" characters, which are basically those found on a US keyboard. We will even simply ignore accents! However, if you're planning to write scientific reports in the future, be prepared for them to be burned down to the ground over the wrong use of dashes. The "dash" on your keyboard (which us programmers use as an all-purpose dash) isn't a dash at all, it's a hyphen! And in the world of typography it apparently is something entirely different than a minus sign (though the minus on my numeric pad is just a hyphen). The worst Crime Against Typography is apparently the use of a double hyphen '--' as a substitute for an em-dash. In the eyes of the "professionals" it will make your report look utterly amateuristic. So here they are:
hyphen: -
minus: −
en-dash: –
em-dash: —
Here's a good explanation of what to use when: www.reddit.com/r/explainlikeim… .
So now you know

(I hope I'm using the equals right :'D lol)
Wow, I didn't know hyphens/dashes/minus signs had so many types and differences Always learning lol. I feel extremely bad for the dyslexic scientists now lol....They must have a lot of their reports burned down....
Wait, so programmers don't care about grammar and write everything lowercase ASCII???? Is all coding done in this language?

That's young pigeons, but they've successfully flown off. Two more eggs are already being sat upon though, no shortage of supply there They're quite entertaining when they're young, plus I'm sort of enjoying the fact that by letting them breed on my balcony I'm going against municipal policy. So far none of the neighbors have informed the authorities, lots of young people here who couldn't care less about neighborhood cleanliness and order. They can be a nuisance themselves though, at least the ones who apparently feel that no one is going to listen to them unless they yell all the time. Which puts a bit of a load on my autistic mind.

How was the pigeon harvesting? Honestly, some municipal laws are absurd :/ You do what you like (as long as it doesn't hurt anyone lol)!!! I understand, some people just don't understand that sometimes more force doesn't mean anything, especially in arguments Thankfully, my neighborhood is relatively quiet (we're probably the loudest family here lol)... If you don't mind, may I ask, how does it feel to have autism? Is that probably why your intellect is amazingly superior to other mortals?
I'm sorry I'm replying so late Had exams, and then got busy with clingy friends and family members lol...They've left me drained of energy
IT'S SO DARN HOT HERE Like, seriously man, it's Europe - I wonder what Africa feels like (probably the surface of Sirius over there lol).... Are you escaping to anywhere for the summer?
Side note: recently I've kinda been obsessed with pop music lol (it's extremely rare that this happens, but so far there's two artists - Melanie Martinez and Halsey - with whom I've been obsessed with lol)...
HAVE AN AWESOME DAY/NIGHT <3

Btw didn't you have final exams? Have you already gotten the good news? Have you managed to select a university and study? Just curious

Yep I did have final exams and the results, well, weren't as bad...but my math was still not good enough to please my Asian father lol Well, I'm still not out of school and have the 2 years of IB with all of its BS to do and I honestly can't say if that's something I'm ready to manage lol...I just don't wanna fail lol.
I have not selected a university yet haha (and I'm always flabbergasted when some people in my class have already not only chosen the uni, but also their majors and minors, future accommodations and budgets planned out lol).... But I do know for a fact that I'd love to study environmental engineering (despite the fact that most engineers whom I know are discouraging me and telling me to do something "practical" such as mechanical/electrical/civil/chemical engineering lol). However, I'm quite a stubborn person lol so I'm gonna stick to my option - I wanna learn as much as I can to use technology for the good and save our beautiful planet! I have read around about the subject though, and mostly European countries - such as Germany and the Netherlands (*wink wink nudge nudge*) show a hopeful prospect for environmental engineering students Otherwise I might have to study in India (if abroad is too expensive) and I'll just have to do a masters or something specialising in environmental engineering....
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHRRRRRRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHHH THIS STUFF IS SO CONFUSING!!!! lol I'm sorry it's just that I have terrible anxiety issues and the future just worsens it lol...
What about you? You sound like you probably aren't a big fan of the establishment's education system, yet you have an incredible independent intellect! Did you have to go to uni or something?

So hi. How are things? On holiday, possibly? Oh, your Asian father should give you a break with your math!. I do think you should go for environmental engineering. Even if it isn't the most practical study today yet, everything points at it becoming a major thing. Plus if you enjoy it, which is the most important aspect. I did environmental chemistry once, it was quite interesting. There was this guy (at the higher forestry school it was) who had gotten himself legend status. In the first year he got so carried away with environmental chemistry that he started analyzing the quality of local ponds and streams in his spare time just for fun. By the time he was in his third year he had tested all the waters in the province. His teachers made sure word spread about it, and people were so impressed that a year before he could actually graduate he had four or five job offerings from major companies and institutions waiting in queue! So that is how it's (apparently) done! Me? I started six different types of education, ranging from university to practical studies, more often than not just to please my family, which generally isn't a great source of motivation. Plus I'm not very educatable. The only one who can educate me is basically me. So after all that I studied myself into a programming job through the dump bookstore and later the expensive bookstore. That was a bit of a feat and it seemed like the start of a career as well, but then blah blah blah and in the end I had to face the fact that I'm really not interested in computers. Or interested maybe, but not fascinated, like my peers were. Last year I did a test and language came out as my strong point, and I'm studying Russian, how convenient, but I honestly have no idea where it's going. I'm still very far from being able to "weigh" the more poetic aspects of the language, and I sometimes doubt I will ever get there, learning a language is such a vast enterprise, you really have to have decades at your disposal in order to fully grasp the whole picture. So I just plod on and we'll see.. Oh yes, and I'm currently suffering from Summer Inertia, a kind of semi-braindead state that hits me every August, and I had a flu kind of thing in July, that's why it took so long for me to write you back. There's another message awaiting a reply, but we'll take care of that later. I do hope you're having a sufficient amount of holiday fun! Later

Hi, I'm sorry I'm replying so late (again :/ ) Well, things aren't very well I guess lol....Recently (actually 4 months ago) it was discovered that my mother has a 10cm diameter tumor in a very vulnerable region between the intestines and ovaries. Needless to say, it's suspectedly malignant/cancerous, which is why my home has been quite disturbed recently.... Since she's not taking conventional chemo/radiotherapy, she's going for alternative treatments which she's not able to exactly trust completely. It's such a messy situation :/ I really hope she gets through....
Furthermore, to make things worse, I've been enrolled in the International Baccalaureate/IB and I made humongous mistakes in my course choices.... Similar to you, I'm sure I'm also quite uneducatable lol....I clearly lack skill in maths and physics but I decided to choose those as my higher levels in order to prepare for environmental "engineering". I'm seriously considering backing down from my decision for that and potentially looking into environmental sciences (or even psychology or English literature), since I'd fail anything remotely related to engineering/maths lol.... I'd love to study environmental engineering, it's simply that I lack everything to accommodate the intellectual capacity that such a career would require....
Wow - that guy sure was passionate! The Netherlands is quite a neat place though, so I don't think he probably made any shocking discoveries lol.... But that's pretty cool that companies wanted to hire him afterwards....
Wow, indeed commendable that you 'studied' yourself into a programming job. I am honestly baffled by such people who have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge - it's very admirable! I agree - studying what your family wants is sort of selling your freedom to them. Mine personally never pressured me, partially because they've seen how my brother who has an engineering degree barely used his university/college education. It's just such a business (like everything) - the education system. Knowledge shouldn't have a price tag :/ Thanks to the internet, this is becoming less of an issue. It's just the part where you have to prove your "qualifications" where it becomes a little more difficult to actually show that you probably know more than a "qualified" individual, just because you lack a piece of paper -_- .
Language, huh? That's quite awesome. I think you'd probably get there - to the point of understanding the poetic nuances of Russian - if you probably spent more time in a Russian-speaking environment or with other literates of the language. I don't think you necessarily need decades to understand it (or maybe, I don't really know I've only completed one and a half of those lol), probably just more exposure.
lol I'm kinda going through a winter-inertia (hopefully winter is better for you than summer lol). I'm a tropical person so the cold makes me quite depressed :/ Especially the lack of sunlight - it's unbearable! Thankfully I won't have to bear that anymore since we're moving back to India in February
I hope you also have a great holiday with Christmas being so close! Wish you a lot of wonderful gifts! Hopefully 2017 won't be as disappointing as 2016 and PRAY TO JESUS that Donald Trump won't start World War 3.... :/ This was such a sh*t election lol....Never have I ever been so grateful to not be an American lol.....
Whatever - Imma quit political talk.....
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! (And thank you for bearing with me - you're probably one of my favourite people to converse with online, despite never having met irl ).....

Hi tropical girl
Thanks for writing. It's funny, I was thinking about you last week, wondering how/where you would be. Still in Hungry (deliberate typo) I guess then. I'm very sorry to hear about your mom, it must be an anxious time for your family indeed. Yes, "engineering" is a different ball game, no matter what field you're in. I was a software developer. Software engineer sounds a lot more hardcore, but you have to be a total math/technology geek to become that. I doubt I could have raised the interest to begin with to ever become one. I'm theoretically good at math, I got my high school degree by basically doing two years worth of math in three weeks time. I deeply regretted not having paid any attention to it before, it all seemed so fascinating, but once the exam was behind me I instantly lost interest again. As a programmer I did sometimes regret the fact that my brains simply refuse to cooperate on that level. Although I have to say that as a programmer I was an utterly ghastly person, I think I'm better company being involved in language and literature. Literature doesn't really light my fire either any more these days, I'm not sure what I'm interested in, if in anything at all. I've read lots of Russian political news, very annoying and even offensive at times, all the chest-drumming and insults towards "the west". Or the way they've appropriated the victory over the Nazis, as if the western front and the Pacific were just side shows, such ******* arrogance! Lately I've delved into a different side of Russia though, in the form of a scholarly overview of the many different kinds of spirits the ancient Russians believed in. There's a house spirit and a court spirit and a barn spirit and a bath spirit and field spirits and a wood spirits and so on and so on. And all of them are potentially harmful and must be kept happy or else.. Very funny! Yes, more exposure, who knows, I said decades ago that maybe a time will come when western Europeans will have to flee to Russia for political asylum, and the way politics are evolving over here doesn't make it any less likely. At least I will be able to speak the language, or to learn it very quickly. So you're off to India again? You should be getting plenty of sunshine over there. All this darkness doesn't bother me at all, it's a lack of atmospheric dynamics aka wind that fells me. High air pressure, I hate that, and we've been having it all autumn. I don't think Trump will start WWIII, although he's certainly going to "do something" towards China. But apart from that, Trump wants to become the Emperor of the Americas and secure the throne for his son, and he isn't going to spoil that for him. That doesn't mean the Trump era will be a laughing matter, it will be mostly about the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer at turbo speed I suspect. But we will see, won't we? Well, I do wish you and your family a lot of courage in these insecure times. Yes, I like to write with you too, you're a bright individual Later

Hmm, Melanie and Halsey, not really my thing.. Autism feels like it's almost impossible to feel lonely, which is an advantage when you're alone most of the time. I can be very talkative though when I'm among fellow human beings. Mhh, my "intellect", not so sure, I've been venturing into the field of philosophy lately and am constantly confronted with stuff I've never heard of. I do find it quite hard to deal with philosophical concepts, I guess I can grasp them fairly quickly, but then they exit my mind as quickly as they have entered it. You wouldn't believe how often I've looked up the meaning of the word "deontology". I look it up, get the idea and forget it as soon as I leave the wiki page. I have the same with grammatical concepts btw. I guess you either have a mind for these things or you don't. A matter of interest probably. It's funny that here in NL "deontological" is hardly ever used outside a deeply philosophical context, while in Belgium it's an everyday word, even bicycle racers use it all the time, and those folk aren't exactly renowned for their intellect. What sucks about (my type of) autism btw is an uncanny ability to offend people. It's all in my amygdala, or hypothalamus, not sure which one exactly, but it causes people to perceive me as a bit volatile, like someone they just can't quite get their finger behind, they'd like to put me in some category but they can't, and this inability to categorize me seems to cause a shortcircuit
in their amygdala or hypothalamus or something, causing them to feel offended by me. As if my mere existence questions their very being and undermines every certainty about life and society they thought they had. Haha, I should call myself a soul shaker. And I also seem to have a bit of an intimidating quality, I seem most at ease in the company of people from the trailer park to be honest, definitely not among the "intelligentia". But I'm in general quite people-avoiding, so it normally isn't much of an issue, except when my neighbors disturb me and I immediately and instinctively disturb them BACK maybe. No plans for th
e summer, just sit and wait for September to arrive. I do hope the neighbors will be largely GONE, though after I spent a morning banging doors from 7.30 - 12.30 things seem to have quieted down a bit downstairs
. It looks like they finally got the message. The guy likes to sleep in until 1 PM, which gives me some "leverage". I'm going to get a part-time sort of "job" at a little theater, I've worked there before, it
should be fun building decors again! Plus the working hours are quite royal, no activity before 11 AM. I used to work there in the evenings and rather than to watch the play I would sit on the stairs behind wi
th a difficult computer book studying, that's how I became a Mr. IT person. Yes, Europe can be pretty hot, especially down South. When the wind blows from that direction even here in NL it can get up to 38C, w

lol I also couldn't believe myself haha...Like, ME liking INDIE POP??!!! I was just experimenting and wanted to get a good laugh out of pop music, and I ventured into the land of "indie" pop and I honestly enjoyed it lol.... But most of the time's I'm listening to more rock/metal stuff, like Megadeth, Alice in Chains and Linkin Park lol... But I do enjoy some electronic stuff, like remixes or trap music...
What about you? I think I saw a post where you mentioned Cradle of Filth
Most music these days is just crappy synth sh*t and sometimes too erotic/pornographic -_- Like, how has society lost all morale to let that kind of ABSOLUTE F*KING SH*T air on the radio and TV???? WHYYYY????!!!
Wow O_O You've kinda just opened up a new universe for me to see now lol... I've always kinda wanted to see things from someone else's mind... Like, I'm an open person and always speak my mind lol (that explains why I'm looked down upon by many and considered 'blatantly' honest/offensive).... I've made the mistake of considering everyone like me so often it's just ridiculous. Nobody just goes around (unlike me lol) telling a stranger "Hey I like your eyes" or "Stop man you're a weird Korean" for a stupid prank lol... Well I'm doomed because of my social skills lol...And, unlike you, I've got no excuse except that I'm a freakin' weird ass person lol...
Philosophy is quite a fascinating subject I believe I've never studied it, but I'd love to! I just guess that it's so abstract, it's hard to just store as a fact in your brain (as you can do with science and other left-brain oriented subjects)... I agree - some people have a great brain (the right one???) for the arts, while some just have a more logical (left brained???) processing....
lol Belgium sure sounds interesting haha...I have a couple at my school. There's a Belgian teacher, and man, sure as hell he's very deep sometimes lol...I guess they take philosophy in school or just have it during dinner convos lol...
God that's stupid -_- But I guess human's are like that - if they don't understand something, they're intimidated and offended by it.... You could be a soul shaker lol SAME HERE!!! My dad's a diplomat, and whenever there are any of those painfully formal and obligatory receptions or whatever, I end up hanging out with the drivers or that like lol... No wonder I have no friends at school - they're all the spawns of self-indulgent rich bastards lol
Idk I tend to avoid people, for, well, A LOT of reasons but I sometimes am very gregarious...Like, I'd spill all the beans about myself to someone on the 1st encounter lol
Damn those are some neighbors worth having lol jk jk Is it like a family or a couple staying there?
I wish you all the best for your job (although I suspect you really don't need it since you're already so familiar with it lol...but still, don't hurt yourself while making some stunning masterpiece haha)
God it really is hot...We recently went to Bosnia and it was giving me, a colored/brown person, sunburns :/ I'm so not prepared to go back to my motherland lol :'D
Well, here in Hungary it's mostly hot and dry summer weather, but when it is cold and wet, god, it's like a hurricane...Do you believe the ice caps are melting because of the oncoming ice age?

I did already suspect antibiotics. It makes me wonder how long the People from the South (anywhere south of Belgium ~= lat. 50 N) are going to choose to stay ignorant and uninformed. Here in NL, as in all of NW-Eu, literally everyone knows that (a) antibiotics have no effect whatsoever on viruses like cold and flu and (b) unnecessary use of them is a major contributor to the MRSA (resistant bacteria) phenomenon. Only this morning there was a news item on the BBC about how simple cuts and infections are going to kill people once more by 2050 if we aren't going to seriously going to cut back on the use of antibiotics. I've heard that so often about doctors in southern countries prescibing them for simple, if not trivial virus diseases which would just pass after a week even without them. So incredibly stupid, and it's been know for well over a decade how harmful it is (apart from the fact that antibiotics make many people, like me, more sick than the disease itself). And I can't really blame the doctors when their patients insist on getting them, and I can't really blame their patients either when they live in a culture of watching debilitating crappy sensationalist amusement TV bread-and-games-style all the time rather than ever getting to watch anything remotely informative. Here in Holland we do have a sort of parallel phenomenon: there isn't a single shred of scientific evidence to support the belief of many that "homeopathic" medicine actually works, but since there are many gullible Dutch people visit the doctor for every pimple and who insist on getting such pseudomedicines, doctors prescribe them just to get rid of them, taking the fact that this undermines the very credibility of their profession for granted. Haha, end rant. But really, it's no laughing matter, it's a HUGE issue which may cost millions of people their lives this century unless people do start getting informed. At least your family's herbal medicine, even if it has no effect whatsoever, probably won't do much harm Bye

lol I wished my family used herbal medicine :'D Instead they're stuffing me with leaves and weird parts of plants which I never even knew existed lol But I agree, the medical pharmaceutical industry is a scam. They treat the symptoms, not the disease or the cause itself. Just the other day I was talking to my friend about my cold, and her argument is that at least it can make you feel temporarily better and is more reliable because it's certified by "credible" people. However, the side effects of most meds - including the ones for mental conditions - include obscure effects on organs which have NOTHING to do with the problem. Like, you're treating depression but the anti-depressants side effects may include shit like thyroid or kidney failure. Obviously, nobody's gonna be listening to these things because it's non-conventional in a society where conformity rules all basis of psychological/social manipulation of the individuals. My initial reaction to getting anti-biotics was of alarm and disdain, but being a minor - you kinda gotta do what they tell you to lol *shrug* *cries* :/ I'm glad that at least at some parts of the world, the people are sensible enough to see through the harmful effects of these medicinal lies (oxymoron much lol). I think the basis for homoeopathic medicine (or so I've probably overheard while eavesdropping somewhere) is that they take a concentration of the disease in some form and dilute it in some neutral and (hopefully) non-harmful solution. The ingestion of this medicine probably immunizes the consuming individual's body to the antigen of the disease so that their immune system can create countering bodies to fight it off. I'm sure I'm definitely wrong lol :'D I know nothing about this medication and its processing, but one thing's for sure: 90% of medicines run on placebo, pseudo-science or certified science. Everything's been commercialized, and in our rapidly accelerating society, getting the product to the market - no matter it's quality or credibility, as long as there's quantity - is the most important part. And we, the consumers, are constantly manipulated to believe that we require such produces buy into the crap of the greedy corporations. I find it truly sad how these days human life has become objectified to the point of collective neglect :/ Anyways - my rant ends here too now lol I suppose it's a negative (or realistic?) perspective of the world, but we all don't seem to be heading the right way However, I wish the best for you <3

[entirely unrelated reply, but I just can't come up with anything better at the moment] I'm currently reading a web page from Russian anarcho-syndicalists. It's quite intelligent and well-written, and a lot better than what I've come across about communism. I really can't relate to the communist view on things, I guess I lack the mental framework for it, or maybe it's just because it really is a load of bollocks. Anarcho-syndicalism seems reasonable, except that I don't see how an anarcho-syndicalist system in the end wouldn't result in what we already know as capitalism. But maybe I should just read more about it

You should (And inform me of your findings). Having structured and planned responses adhering to a certain topic can truly get boring, it's nice to just talk about what one feels like Honestly, I feel like any kind of socio-economic system is bullocks unless its something which can be operated with minimal effort and management - because it will then run with minimal effort and cooperation of the framework. But then again, it's also how you establish the framework - the classes, distribution of resources, etc - which can effect how much effort needs to be put into regulating the system. Idk, this stuff is beyond my understanding lol :'D Anyways, considering how many deaths communism has led to, it truly doesn't seem to be a very sustainable system :/ but on the other hand, capitalism is similar slavery, with segregation and a destroyed planet.... To me both sound terrible lol. Anarcho-syndicalism, though, seems like something different...are there any countries anarcho-syndicalistic countries (not socialist though)?

Hey, how are you? How's your mother doing? Is the traditional medicine working? Please tell her to get well soon from me!
My life is just about Russian, Russian and more Russian at the moment. I've started to tackle speech thanks to a few magnificent web sites I found.
Oh, yes, and the US have a new president, never mind about that. Fuck 'em all (all in the White House I mean, not all Americans)
I feel kind of stupid these days, it's as if I've stopped having any opinions about anything. The Russian arrogance could still get me going, but I don't read their news any more. It's hard to tell where the biggest mafia live these days, in the Kremlin or the White House. Or maybe they're just two different branches of the same thing.
How's school going? How are your environmental aspirations? You seem like an extremely down-to-earth person, you could also do useful stuff defending human interests I think. How about a diplomatic career? You're probably a tough negotiator as well
Are you already packing for India?
Take care

I'll resume our conversation after the birch pollen season is over. I lack the brain power at the moment. Hope you're ok

I'm doing more or less OK...final exams are getting closer, expectations are growing and my grades have an exponential slope reaching a negative asymptote lol.... But I'll manage to pull through, just like you will with this season
