Yeah, I get a lot more traffic at my blog on myspace than I do here. But I also blog stuff other than my poetry there, too.

I like the fact that I don't have yet another one of my pages e-mailing me every time someone does something. I watch too many people on here for that to be effective. And can you imagine if you were one of the people who have thousands watching you, having something e-mailed to you every time they did something. No, not for me. I totally agree with dA on that one. It almost forces me to be proactive on this page, another reason they may have it set up that way, if you're not active on here then you don't get a lot of activity on your page... you know what I mean?

That's way true. dA makes me check back every little while, to see if I've spiked anyone's interest with ma' work! Of course, now that I'm more active? I finally decided to buy a year subscription to see what I could do with it! Actually, I did it more for the ability to have my work critiqued - since I'm really making an effort to hone my skills. ^^

I totally need to find people who will critique my stuff. Would love to know what other writers think of my work. I think the most honest critique I've ever gotten is from a friend who doesn't really do any artsy stuff at all and his comment was "well it sounds like poetry to me".

I was a bit nervous, opening my artwork to critique at first. Though, I have to say - spending so much time training in the graphic arts? Has desensitized me a bit. Taught me how to take a few steps back from my work, and not keep it so.. personal.

I didn't realize I had to do anything other than put in the comments section that "Advanced Critique Requested", or whatever that option is when I'm uploading my deviation. How does one "open my work to critique"? I'm so beyond taking anything personal - I made that leap when I decided that I was good enough to actually have a page here in the first place. Once that decision was made, my thought process is "bring it on, I want to grow, tell me if this is even worth pursuing".

It's a paid feature, when you submit a deviation. I took the chance, and purchased a few months of membership. It's probably why I've had so much traffic recently!

Oh, I have a subscription. Possibly we're speaking of the same thing, but possibly not... I'll just have to compose another piece and upload it, go through the process and then curse you when I can't figure it out on my own and must needs seek out FAQ which is what I will be shouting at my computer when I'm thwarted by the angry dA gods....

Right on! Well, I added the critique ability to a few of my other works, by editing the deviation, and clicking on the 'have this piece critiqued' box.

Ah, yes, I meant to type at you that I did notice it when I went in to edit one of my pieces today - and there it was - it must be exceedingly new as the last piece I uploaded wasn't that long ago.

At this moment? It's hard to tell. It's expensive to travel from coast to coast these days! I was hoping to be there for ma' 10th year reunion in June.. but, I don't quite think that's gonna happen. :/ Bummer!

Well there are a few tricks to that, did you try commenting faving talking and watching other people ? It works really well, for me at least, I get to meet tons of new people while browsing for new stuff to look at
