I thought deviantart.com was set up so artists could recieve advice, feedback, a public opinion of your art. I suppose people could make a popularity contest out of it, but popularity is not the artist's domain. The artist's domain is either in self expression, storytelling, or craft(technique)(building a boat can be seen as art).

Take lessons from various fields of life. For instance, yoga teaches "honor where you are". No one picks up a pen and writes a literary classic on their first try. Don't be ashamed of your skill level. Time and practice hone your skills.

I remember when I first visited deviantart, there were thousands upon thousands of animé artists who were beginners(and it showed). Maybe it wasn't the prettiest drawing on earth but you know, it was good. deviantart gives us a unique opportunity to recieve feedback and advice to help us improve our skills.

Nothing "sucks" in art.

a thought on art:
If an elephant's paint dabs on canvas can sell for multiple thousands of dollars and be called art(and this is a true story), then a human being who puts genuine EFFORT in drawing anything at all, is a masterpiece.

is not about being famous, is about improving... you dont improve by stealing. you just... do nothing, and take a fantasy as truth.

like the tits said, you can cheat on chess, but you cant win a game.

you should really try to put your art in. and improve it. and get famous by your own strenght.
put your effort on it. everysingle artist around here and around the world, passed and is gonna pass for the real moment when their heart are going to be broken and their illusions on the floor.
what you have to be is a soul that never gives up.

so here's my two cents about art thiefing. if someone steals your art. big fucking whoop. if you were really as good as you believe yourself to be, you could do it again. and again. for example. you can tell when a pic is by a certain artist. well... by certain artists. your brush/pen/pencil strokes give you away. like a fingerprint. you pick up habits and such as you go. that's why you shouldn't worry about getting ripped. because if you're really worth a damn, you're ripper will never have a larger following than you.

so there. rip away. an idea once torn from the head is up for grabs.
unless you're such an egocentric capitalist, that your work has to be yours alone so that all respect and principal returns directly to you!

if someone makes money off my work. i want that money. but if someone gets props from their friends for claiming my work as their own. go ahead. i don't need props from your friends. because someone will say, "that's awesome, can you make me a pic? draw a vampire eating a dolphin!" and then of course they're fucked.

if you want a reason not to steal art? selfrespect. anyone can cheat at chess, but to honestly win a game...

Although it thought it was odd when you put up apicture that was hand drawn and it was't anywhere near your other artwork.. i started to wonder but didnt think much ofit.. now I know..I'm glad you admitted it.. but stll why would you stoop so low in the first place. I for one have been watching you for a while and I take the time to comment on all your works.. and NOW i find out I just wasted hours of my time? That kinda upsets me.

I deleted 1 REPEAT 1!!!!! picture that I had in my gallery that was from somewhere, it was just lines and then I coloured it...it was that aqua girl one....but its gone now...becuase I don't think its right for me to have it....but now my gallery is all my pics...i know that becuase I worked long and hard to do them all...except the rinoa_02_by_eido...but I said that that wasn't mine! I said I got it from winamp...plus the person's name is in the title!

I feel sorry for her becuase you guys scolded at her!....I'm not mad at her myself..I didn't know that they were other people's........*puts all her signartures on her picture on the character so that people can't take them* thats all I do so that people don't take them, if they took the words off then I'd just put something in the picture somewhere that is said it was mine...like in the background....but I don't want to say anything else...you guys could have not did that I know I don't steal....I take picture to help my make poses I can't do...but I don't steal...just that those picture help me
