Can you really describe a piece with a single word? Is that word the ultimate descriptor, really and truly, for a sampling of the style it purports to conform to? When naming an art piece abstraction works best, as you well know, for art is a medium with many names but none that are true. In modern times, the whiz-bang-boom of the bullet-time, everywhere-at-once age that threatens to consume and homogenise us all, our perception of art is typically relegated to immediacy -- glorious, subjective immediacy -- in the purist sense. What is so Awesome, so much a Favourite in the temporary seconds it is first enjoyed, becomes quickly lost in a sea of other works by a multitude of other artists, millions and billions more -- because now we realise everyone is an artist -- and all we have lingering in the backs of our brains as we gobble up art like too many cookie monsters, is a single word, a 'repose' or a 'floaty', dragging our diluted memories back to that moment so long ago, so many years ago (it was only one minute ago) when we swallowed a diamond amongst the coals. One word describing the broken-off piece of imagination from an unapologetic dreamer, one who thinks in multiples and asks in what way something is different, from a hairdo switcharoo to the scratched-off face of a girl amongst girls. Which one word can be used to describe the gifts of the mind and once again make one a believer in the miraculous nature of language, in the unadulterated language of art?
I suppose 'gogobetty' or 'lsvr' are a good start.
