Actually the uni firewall has little effect on the uploading of images or shouldnt have. I can upload from McIntosh no problem. IF DA weren't so whatstheword insane they would let you upload from a URL. This would mean you could put it on your own webspace (which you can get from IT services).

I think it must be something with the St Andrews internet or whatever because I also have another website on which I can't upload a thing either... I have heard from other people that have the same problem as well with image files over msn...

Err how strange. I've transferred everything from pictures to movies over msn with no problems whatsoever.
Perhaps you should drop the awful internet explorer and see if that helps. Ie Instead of using internet explorer use an alternative browser like mozilla firefox:

Theres no need to delete IE (its rather difficult anyway) you can have both on your computer. Give firefox a try. I swear you will never use internet explorer again because its that good.
Are you coming back to hall next year? I'd like to get this problem fixed for you as I'm going to be (well hopefully) computer rep next year. I'll actually do work unlike every other computer rep before me because relying on IT services to fix your computer is about as effective as opening a beer bottle with your teeth. Oh and check out the hall website from time to time as its getting revamped by me *w00t* :
