hey, i checked out your gallery cause of what you were saying on snapesnoggers journal, wow, you do a lot of good work, i do photography at school, but none of what i've seen there looks as good as yours. I especially love the photos of the mist, i've always loved mist and photos generally look lovely when taken in the mist.

Thank you! Very much! For the lovely words and for watching me!
I'm such a huge fan of mist photos as well, I was so delighted when I just happened to be in the right place at the right time that morning. It was glorious.
When I get amazing shots, I swear it's an accident, but it happens enough that I also have to believe that I'm doing something right too!

Yeah, I'd been eyeing the krill cubes myself. Problem is that I have no idea how to cut them in half successfully, since the cube itself is far too large for a single, small puffer (at least in the packages I've been seeing). I'll probably pick some up next time I'm at the store, though. He loves the snails, of course! But he eats them all, even the ones too big for him! So much for possibly being over run by them.
And I'd gotten some comet goldfish as you suggested. Two of them ended up dying for various reasons, but none of which had to do with Gune. The third still remains, and never gets nibbled on, even when Gune's hungry. I think it helps that the goldfish is bigger than he is, but who knows? All in all, though, he's doing great, maybe I'll take more pictures soon. Thanks for checking in!

get the flat packs there made by sanfransico bay brine company. anywise they do love snails and they do go through alot setup a 10 with vegetation just for snails and youll see lots of little snotty looking things all over the glass thats the eggs they are highly prolific, they grow fast too. I always keep 2 or 3 puffers together and the gold fish are to keep there attention off of each other remember always more than one, its a breeders motto. My motto is why get one when I can get 12 at 12 times the price.

Firstly, I'm sorry for taking so long to reply.
Once I clear out some space in my room, I'll see about setting up a space for snails. I think it would be worth it, since he really enjoys them.
I have a question for you. I got a pair of mollies a week or so ago, and they've moved in very well. But yesterday they started to act... well, honestly, they look like they're in a mating mood, but I'm far from experienced enough to know if that's true. One's aggressively swimming after the other, rubbing on it, and making a downright nuisance of itself, while the other is randomly doing something like a dance, but alone. It looks like it's having miniature seizires and gasping for air, but then it will act normal after about five seconds of this. Any idea what's going on? And should I do anything?

Well they might be trying to breed but do you know if its a pair. If you dont know how look at the anal fin if it has a rounded shape its a girl a sharp anal fin with a tube (the penis) you have a male. If you wish to do mollies salt the water a bit and condition them well and they will not eat there babies. but the goldfish will wipe them out with out a shadow of a doubt. Get a 10 gallon fill it half way with water when your female is for sure pregnant and showing move her to the ten gallon and let her have her babies for the first month or two they will not require oxygen due to there small size. give her two weeks from today then move her a 10 gallon is awfully cheap and not hard to find space for. I mean ive found a way to fit 5 50's 10 40's 3 30's and 30 10's. But dont worry about them fighting as they are usually pretty docile. In other news if your still planning on doing the sea horses my recomendation is to get 180 gallon tank a 90 gallon refugim and a chiller skip the sump filter as that will be where your baby sea horses will end up dead in your poly filter media. Let the live rock and live sand do your biological filtration but i guess when you start to get serious ill tell you all of the tricks i picked up when we used to breed them on the fish farm I worked on. Its pretty tricky and most people only talk about the care of but not how to breed them or the only tell half truths. anywise hope your fish do well any other questions just ask ill be glad to help in anyway I can.

Turns out they are a pair, thank you for explaining to me the difference in sex. I'll keep an eye on her, see if there's any change, and if so I'll move her to another tank.
I'm still planning on seahorses, but not until my house is built and I'm moved in. And have the space and time to dedicate to them. You're right about the setup you suggested, if I were intending to raise any other species of seahorse than zosterae (at first). I've done extensive research and spoken with longtime breeders of h. zosterae. They are a pygmy breed and therefore do terribly in big tanks. Even five gallon tanks are considered risky because of their size and the concern of food concentration. Zosterae fry are also the most developed of all seahorses, and do not need the 'drift' period other seahorse fry require for survival. Also, because of the filtration method required for pygmy seahorses, the fry won't be getting sucked up into the pumps--thank goodness!
When I move up to larger seahorse species, though, I'll definitely be having to put into play the more intensive methods of breeding. I'll be looking forward to those tips from you when the time comes. Every little bit counts, right? Ahhh, just thinking about seahorses makes me so happy. I'm going to be the most ecstatic woman alive when I can finally keep them!

Sea horse babies........ you sure as hell better be able to raise brine shrimp and lots of guppies or else you may as well forget it......Or you can try to do it some other way....Good luck...for there are millions of roads to failures and very few too sucess

I am well educated on raising and housing seahorses, luckily, and increasing my knowledge all the time. I'm a member of the forms on seahorse.org and am daily conversing with experienced hobbyists, trying to learn as much as I can before I go ahead and set it all up. Because of the brine shrimp issue, I've decided to wait the year and a half until I have my own house, where I will have the best use of space, as well as control over the proccess. Instead of a cramped little room. Luckily, I'm not a complete idiot and I care too much for seahorses to put them in danger merely because I want them.

No disrespect intended I love creatures and that is the only reason I said anything anywise when your ready I can tell you the trick to keep vast amounts of adult brine alive for the longest time possible, if your instrested. And im sorry if you thought I was insulting you but the average person buys first on impulse and intern kills more than they save its good to know you are a responsible creature owner, and for that you earn my respect, if it counts for anything. Once again no disrespect intended my love of creatures causes me to try to illuminate anyone I can. And trust me if you can raise live food youll be more than ready to expand into seahorses in a years time.

Oh, I will definitely have to become skilled! I intend to begin with Hippocampus Zosterae, the dwarf seahorse. Of course, for them you must hatch brine shrimp daily in order to give them food small enough. Adult brineshrimp are far too large for a little thing only an inch long! But they're excellent for someone like me--I just have to wait until the time is right. After that, I hope to branch out to the larger species. The success rate of dwarf seahorse fry being raised to maturity is a great deal higher than others, since they are the most developed of all seahorse fry. I know it will be trial and error at first, but I feel I will be well-prepared for it when it comes.
No disrespect was taken, I assure you. I, too, ahve been having to deal with impulsive human being who rush into animal care all too fast. I tend to be a very responsible owner, though.
