Basically GB is only half way through and after I write it all (granted I can muster enough motivation) then I'll go back, revise it, check for plot holes, etc etc basically tighten it the fuck up, and then I'll start the actual comicking process. so clooose, yetsofar.

bahaha oh honey you aren't doing too bad. my friend is the one who bullied me into it and he has never not had to write 10k+ in a day to catch up. but yeah life is a bitch. it's probably wrong that I put nano above my exam but kanye shrug.

I was able to catch up okay, haha, it's handy that I'm doing GB because I have all the major plot points figured out, and my typing speed is really fast so it's just a matter of putting aside an hour or two and just banging it out :'D but yeah last year I was doing nanowrimo before doing everything else too, haha.... it's hard to not put it ahead of everything haha

ahh so you have GB pretty much nutted out already? see I was thinking of doing clock-eye, but I figured there were too many gaps I needed to think about properly. I kinda wish I'd done it after all, now that I've seen how easy it is to just come up with shit WHEN you make yourself actually write.

Yep! The only reason I haven't started GB yet besides my... stark lack of ability to draw buildings is that I haven't figured out all the in between scenes for each major plot point. So thankfully nanowrimo is working out the kinks.

OMG! Good luck getting yourself published! Are you going for a publisher or a self publish? I'll be editting GB after it's done, I think (but last year, soon as I hit 50k I was like DONE CAN'T ADD ANYMORE CAN'T LOOK AT THIS /EVER/ AGAIN)

exactly, that's pretty much how I feel about comics vs novels as a whole. words are so much more flexible, but a lot harder to share. comics can be really easy to get out but once it's out, it's hard and annoying to refine anything.

well in the long run I would definitely be aiming to get published "for real". I couldn't self-publish partly because I don't think I'd ever be able to fully feel as though my work is "finished" on my own. it also puts the burden of promotion squarely on yourself.

ahaha I am sure I'll be exactly like that when I finish as well, at least for a while. I can't believe how much I've learned doing nano though, just about the process of going from idea to something readable.

is this your second time then? what'd you do first time around?

Haha, I know, I kind of wish I could share my nanowrimos with people. I have a friend who wanted to read GB as I write it, so that's nice, but at the same time it makes me kinda anxious because I know some of the writing is really terrible and I just didn't care haha.

Good luck getting published for realzies ;w; I'd read your book for sure. You should illustrate it too~

But yeah I gained SO much from doing nanowrimo, also upped my typing skills a lot too haha.

My first nanowrimo was just kind of a random story that I made up as I went along and it was a loooot harder because I didn't know exactly what... I was gonna do next. I tried to plan things out but there's a lot of awkward places and plotholes and I cheated a lot by H A V I N G C H A R A C T E R S T A L K L I K E T H I S to boost my word count hsdfkjdshf

yeah lol, nanos aren't made to be read the day after you finish them. I have another whole document called my "edit list" which allows me to just keep writing and not freak out over stuff not making sense

I'm sure it'll be a loooong road, but I think I have the ability, I just need the determination. and actually that's something I've always wanted to do- bring back the ol' illustration! like now it's seen as a thing for kids books but back in the day GQMF Sherlock Holmes had illustrations accompanying it and stuff.

lollolol my friend told me something similar- having characters with a stutter boosts your wordcount considerably. still, it must have been good practise for doing GB more coherently

One of my dreams when I was younger was to get a book published... I'm kinda starting to warm up to the idea again, but I'm daunted by the years of work it'll take. I mean, it doesn't have to take years, but you can't really rush a novel you want to publish, you know?

Plus I love your art (I still have that drawing of Don Leche and Alice as my wallpaper and I still get hypnotized but how much I love it) and your art in a book would basically be the best mix evar.

exactly, but in another sense that's kind of comforting. I mean, it's something you can just continuously work on wherever you are, whatever you do. and unlike art where skill development usually results in kind of "disowning" older works, if you improve as you write a novel over several years then you can build it back in. that's sort of the most major advantage of writing for me.
