You don't suck! I'm sure with practice, you could be a really amazing artist!
As for bodies, I often have trouble with them too. Here is a helpful guide I found on body proportions [link] I hope it helps!
Once you know the basic body proportions, from there it is just experimenting. It's also helpful to reference bodies from life or photos, to get a better idea of how they work.
And remembering how many heads tall a person is supposed to be is also good. If you're looking for a more in depth guide, here [link] are some downloadable pdfs on figure drawing and such, although manga bodies tend to be more stylized/simplified. Good luck! 8D
