Hehe, yeah medium format. I stinkin' LOVE shooting with it. I only get the chance when I can borrow evblizzardbeff: 's camera as I don't own one yet. I want to u/grade my 35mm junket before I get a med. format. It's like a treat and a luxury and I feel motivates me to shoot better.
A lot of my favourite shots are done with that camera. You ever tried medium format?

woaaaaaaaaaaaah! im not a darkroom master, i'm just at the early beginning to be good in it. i developed my first film and such, but nothing more. i still have to learn SO MUCH, but i really want to, of course. i guess 2004 will be a very creative year.
i wish you great last days of this year and i nice start of the new one.

You are one of my favourite deviants because...
+ you are passionate about your work.
+ I like the way you see the world and draw on capturing human emotion.
+you wear your emotions on your sleeve. There are no pretenses with you. You are Gautam and you express yourself plain and simply.
+ I like the way you have courage to shoot what makes many others shy away. ie. Protests!
+You are talented and you WILL go from strength to strength and it is exciting to see someone like that at work.

Yeah you are right. They are so full of passion. Fueled by raw emotion I suppose. I have wanted to shoot one before, but always chicken out. Knowing my luck I will get dragged into the foray and arrested or something! haha.

Gautam, I've been following your work ( at least as much as DA and the website you posted allows) its emotionally daunting at the very least; painful and gripping, ranging from the sublime to the cold hard realities experienced by our worlds children. You have even juxtaposed the mundane with hues that would otherwise seem like a contradiction (the old lady reading by the lamp) you took a very simple, some might say boring subject and "turned on light!" I can't say enough about how important it is for you to keep showing us(the world) how other people are forced to live. God we live in a vacume in this Country(US) and so we choose to keep living our numb, meaningless realities and also, sadly we all too often choose NOT to look. We give an all new"LOW" to the definition of irresponsibility because every single one of us will be held accountable for the state of this apathy with which we've allowed ourselves to stoop into. Keep doing your amazing work Gautam. Make us look.We will (and should be) ALL held accountable for the suffering of our own brothers and sisters around the world. Your work is important. It's HUGE! You have been gifted with the ability to evoke emotional, physical, intellectal, as well as (of couse) the visual responses which it takes to wake people up. And I just(and I'm sure I speak for 1000s)want to say THANK YOU!Thank you Gautam for your passion to fight the good fight. keep it up brother.I don't know you but I swear I love you.
oh....one more thing.....FREEEEEEEEEE PALISTINE!!

Gautam, I've been following your work. At least as much as DA and the website you have advertised will allow. Its' outstanding.Ranging from sublime tonal and subject matter to emotionally provocative.Wrenching even. You seem extremely passionate about the subjects which you choose to explore. I'm not a gifted photographer but I 'can' see. " FEEL" is the applicable word here more then any other. And it looks as though you have mastered this The art of evoking a feeling, not to mention all of the other elements which serve to make a piece "work"! intellectual, visual , physical respones...it's all there. I'm truely in awe of the work you do and the pain and passion it seems to be born from. The subjects you choose( so important that the world sees whats going on outside of thier white picket fences) Bravo to you Gautam! You ARE one of the few true artists among us. Please keep doing what you do. It's working and the world needs to see it. A sister in the cause, Sarah one more thing....FREEEE PALISTINE (bring "them" to your canvas!)

well good luck with your local newspaper, I hope for their sake they hire you
I know what you mean about usually not having any control over the subject...I've just started to try to make an effort to take more pictures of people who I don't know and can't "pose" for me...which is something really different for me because I'm used to taking pictures of my friends who will model for me...
but taking an unposed photograph really does have a different feel to it, it just feels so much more meaningful in a way...
but as long as I have a way to express my ideas anything's alright with me, whatever works....
people used to always tell me that I was more of an observer than someone who took action, and I think I used to get insulted by that but not anymore...with photography we are the ones who are taking action and making the difference

thanks alot for the
I'm considering going into photojournalism also, but like you said, most jobs in the artworld really are underpaid
I don't even care if I make alot of money, I just want to be able to do something I enjoy and still support myself, and I'd like to choose a job that makes some sort of a difference in the world too...
