I am, actually, but I'm probably not like most Christians that you'd meet on the street. A lot of 'Christians' are really hard-nosed when it comes to people of other faiths, while Christ himself taught his followers to love all people regardless of their religious background. I try to adhere to that as much as I can, because there's nothing worse than a Christian with religious prejeduce. It's one of the most hypocritical things a person can do, and I see it everyday, sadly (especially living in Waco, TX...the buckle of the Bible Belt...) Sorry about that, I'll get off my soapbox now, but to answer your question: Yes, I am

That's interesting you should say that (especially considering your location) I got really disillusioned with the charismatic churches I used to go to because the religious bit was always marred with a right wing political agenda (anti-gay, anti-abortion, pro-zionist etc.) Now whether you agree with those things are not, people implied I was less of a Christian, if my political views didn't tarry up to the political stance of the church! WTF? Thanks for the open response, my friend!

Word up, I've run into a lot of that, in the last few years especially. I think the biggest problem isn't the fact that certain people believe certain things, it's that they try to force that on others who are unwilling or already have their own beliefs! A lot of my political beliefs fall under my religious beliefs, (regarding abortion, gay/lesbian marriage, etc.) and even though I don't believe that those things are right, I also recognize that God sees all wrong-doings as equal, making something like abortion just as wrong as telling a lie, or stealing, which is something that I'm guilty of on a regular basis! So essentially, I think a lot of Christians are also elitists, which is something that I would hope to never fall into. Man, we should really just get on AIM or something and chat sometime!

And that's fine- personally I'm pro-gay, pro-choice but anti late-abortion (It was different when I was practising). Even when I was practising, I felt deeply dubious about the evangelical church painting certain issues in stark black and white colours- and felt that people should be allowed to choose their own path. After all, the West tried legallised Christianity for a thousand odd years, and it didn't necessarily reflect in a better or more loving society (crusades and witch burning anyone?) If God exists, and people communicate with him (her?) the way that Christians make out, then I should be able to see this in Christians as testimony, and not have their morality legally enforced on me.

My sentiments exactly. When will they get the whole 'separation of chuch and state' thing right?! I wish more people could just communicate like civil human beings about this stuff like you and I just have, but the human race on a whole, so often, are no better than wild animals, and at times I see more civil behavior in nature than I do in our own species! Oh well, it's mad world, and I'll be glad to leave it behind someday.

Anyway, good to hear that many people don't get chainsawed there. I'm glad it's never happend here, not that I know of atleast. I was walking down the street and heard a chainsaw one day, I must of jumped a milllllion feet in the air.
