# About me

I'm a sociology major at Massey University in Palmerston North, New Zealand, I dig philosophy, religious studies, gender and sexuality studies, anthropology and evolutionary psychology.

I used to be very religious, but I'm making up for it with a vengeance, I'm a pretty vocal atheist these days and I like talking about these things and hearing other people's opinions. I try not to offend, but I have a pretty subversive sense of humour.

I've been quite heavily involved with gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender rights here in New Zealand over the last ten years since coming out in my church days, I'm taking a bit of a back seat now while I complete my degree though.

I've always been a writer and an avid drawer (is that a what you call someone who draws?), I was accepted for an animation school as a teenager but my mum thought I was too young so I didn't end up going and have regetted it ever since. I write poetry and short stories and I've also written for the local student rag this last three years.

I have a fairly obsessive personality, when I'm into Transformers or the Starship Enterprise or whatever I'm REALLY into it, then I find something else to obsess about and move on, hence never getting anything finished. I'm studying sociology because I just can't quite figure out what makes people tick, or why the world works the way it does, and I find all that stuff fascinating.

If I could do anything, I'd travel in space and time, preferably in a little blue box. Failing that, I think being an author might be fun.
