As Fantasy Sports Alliance gets ready to launch into a full blown membership organization next year, we are beginning our search for graphic artists to help with team logos. Chris Smith, our current graphic artist, will still remain our business, regional logo, and t-shirt designer. However, with the expansion we are expecting over the next few years, we know Chris will not be able to keep up with that many logos.
In our effort to find these new graphic artists, we are holding a TOURNAMENT OF LOGOS! These logos will be non-commissioned work and will allow the artists to showcase their talents.
There are a few ground rules that must be followed:
* DO NOT STEAL ARTWORK. No copying or tracing. No clipart. No adapting existing designs. No "borrowing." Create something original and distinctive!
* Entries must be submitted via email to pres_fsa@yahoo.com
* Valid entries will include at least a PRIMARY LOGO, SECONDARY LOGO and a WORDMARK.
* Please submit the final work as vector artwork (PDF/AI) or high-resolution JPG and PNG formats.
* Include your FIRST AND LAST NAME as well as any additional contact information in the email.
* Finally, by submitting artwork, you agree to grant Fantasy Sports Alliance (FSA) rights to use it in conjunction with all FSA-related projects and publications.
If you know of anyone who might be interested in doing this, please forward this message and have them contact us at pres_fsa@yahoo.com to let us know they are interested in beginning the TOURNAMENT OF LOGOS with FSA.

I like your designs a lot. I myself am going through college right now for graphic design. Mind if I ask you a few questions?
How hard is it to get a good internship and will a not-so-good one set me back?
Is being good at traditional art something employers look for? Should I show it off in my professional portfolio?

Hello, it is alway awesome to hear from design students, especially from one with such a strong illustration background. The design elements you have learned in your fine art classes will directly tie into your design and therefore alway give you an advantage over a designer that does not have a fine art background. It is really important to show that off in your portfolio, especially if you can show how you incorporate that into your design.
Regarding internships, there is no such thing as a bad internship as long as when your are ready to move on they have good things to say about you. My first "internship/job" was in a tattoo shop. I don't use any of the work from that job in my portfolio, but the owner is still on some of my reference lists. Employers like to know that you work hard and are easy to work with almost as much as how good a designer you are.
Yes it is better if your internships are with people that will let you create pieces that will go in your portfolio, but if not, it's not the end of the world. You will just have to work a little harder and find freelance work that can fill your portfolio.
Regarding finding a great internship, I'd say you are off to the right start. Get yourself out there. Don't be pushy but let them know who you are. They wont know to hire you if they don't know you are looking.
