Hi! I've been wondering - how on earth did you get your sig line upside down?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

onilukos In reply to twodimensions [2007-03-26 01:36:18 +0000 UTC]

There's a standard extending text to more than 256 different characters called Unicode. One section of Unicode contains characters for the International Phonetic Alphabet, which are mostly just slightly modified versions of Latin or Greek letters, including the turned r ( Éč ) which makes the sound an r in English makes (not trilled), and apparently a turned m and y, although I don't know what sounds those make. The turned e is called a schwa. It's a general phonetic symbol for an unstressed vowel. The turned d, n, u and p are just p, u, n and d, respectively. The i is a "dotless I" that's in Unicode for reasons I don't know. The o is, well, an o!

Oh, hmm, that's a bit outdated. I know what the turned m sounds like now

Ohh, of course. I didn't even think of that! Here I was thinking you'd figured out some strange html tags that no one else knows about

onilukos In reply to twodimensions [2007-03-26 14:50:13 +0000 UTC]

Well, I have pretty much read the entirety of the HTML 4.01 W3C specification But no, it's basically just a trick.

Fractals seem to be your thing. I remember learning about them a while back in one of my math classes. What do you use to create them?

Apophysis. Old version with installer , new version (still in beta, but it works fine)

Your signature is upside-down. Thought you ought to know.

And I probably will look through your gallery.

Yeah, I'm aware. If you search the internet for that, you'll see that several other people are aware too.

And yeah, about 2/3 of my gallery is pretty good, with the bad stuff being the really early stuff (which is about the 12th and 13th pages)

hi, what does oni lukos mean? (and if it's your real name i'm gonna be embarassed)...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

onilukos In reply to lukasbryson [2006-11-24 19:26:49 +0000 UTC]

Hahaha, no, Oni Lukos isn't my real name. Oni is Japanese ( éŹŒ ) and is a kind of ogre-like demon, and Lukos is a corruption of the Greek word "λύÎșÎżÏ‚" (lykos) which means "wolf" (as in "lycanthropy", which means "wolfman").

onilukos In reply to ExtremeJordan [2006-08-21 12:34:32 +0000 UTC]

...crap, where did I put that copy + paste response to that inquiry? Um...*looks through some stuff*

ExtremeJordan In reply to onilukos [2006-08-21 14:29:25 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, that's what I assumed. Do you know how many letters like that are possible?

Also, there are other ways besides the IPA to do those. An upside-down m is a letter in the Cyrillic alphabet (sh), the upside-down y is actually a standard Greek latter, and so on. Good job for being able to find all those, though!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

onilukos In reply to ExtremeJordan [2006-08-21 16:31:09 +0000 UTC]

The "sh" letter looks a bit different, however. It's more block-ish. And lamda goes in the wrong direction.
