Ok. here goes. (this is from the MARVEL comics; they have a whole series of this gut-wrenching crap.) (hold on, lemme go get some pretzels. ok, i got pretzels and dr. pepper in my little avengers cup [i'm insane, getting caffine at 12:14 AM.] lemme know if you find a good story.)

In the comics, Iron Man and Captain America are [sadly] not lovers, but they ARE close friends. From what I've read on the subject, Steve goes to help save the Young Avengers, and this whole thing forms about superheroes' secret identity. The president thinks secret identities should not exist, and Tony agrees. Steve does not, and goes underground and forms the Secret Avengers. Sooner or later there comes a big fight, and it ends in Captain America being killed by none other than Iron Man. Tony Stark becomes the head of SHIELD and life carries on.

Now. The story I just told was probably really confusing and wrong. That's all I could gather from my readings, though. The one thing that stands out to me is the fact that Tony Stark fucking killed Steve Rogers. That's what made me cry. DX And now people write gut-wrenching fanfictions about it and they make me cry even more.

So...yeah.
