Unfortunately, No. I don't do requests, Art trades are for Mutuals only, and Collabs are sort of a group thing for me.
Plus I have way too much on my plate at the moment for any of those things-

Well if you are just too busy to do art trades it's understandable you would limit them to friends however you could still do them with anyone without having a chance of being scammed and you do that by simply refusing to start working on your part until you see and like their part!

I totally understand where you're coming from with that--
However; I can't justify waiting for someone else to even post their part before I start on mine.
I tend to go through periods of inactivity depending on what happens in my life so I try to do the things I need to do when I can, as I have no idea when I may be able to get to it otherwise.
The idea is good but unfortunately won't work for me, so I plan to keep them closed to anyone who isn't a mutual.

Yeah though doing trades with people like I mentioned would be a really good idea for times when you don't have any commissions to work on so you get something to do and you are not sitting around not drawing anything for too long!

I take part in dA groups though so I always have something I could be drawing or doing.
Plus now that I'll be running my own group I have plenty on the list to draw and do as well.
If I ever run out of things to do, I may look into them but I honestly can't see myself opening up art trades with non-mutals.

Okay plus if you do trades with non friends like I mentioned then people who ask to trade with you would literally have to trust that you don't scam them so they would literally have to trust you with it!

A valid point- but since I'm working on so much different stuff right now- plus I'm wanting to get into drawing for selling- I don't have the extra time to even think about art trades with non-mutuals.
It sounds nice, really. But I just don't want to have that kind of trust; because forcing them to post first just to secure that they would doesn't make me happy to think about. I want both people to trust each other beforehand, or be okay if it turns out that someone can't do their half.

Yeah though if you want to do drawing commissions as your full time job then you might want to avoid doing non paid art as much as you can as you might not be able to afford to do art trades with friends but instead give them a slight discount on your art when you take on it as a full time job! Though that’s unless you get commissioned by a major corporation to do a massive drawing for them that would be used as the cover/consept art for a new video game. So in that case you would not only get paid thousands to spend hundreds of hours on a single artwork but you would also make quite a lot of money afterwards from licensing fees like you might get paid a few dollars for every single time your art is used like you might get paid for every game copy that has your art printed on it or every time your art is played in an ad or featured in a piece of advertising for the game! Anyways that’s unless you sign away the rights of the artwork to the corporation as a part of the commission contract with them!

I never get commissions; maybe once every year honestly.
All of my art is for myself or my close friends and occasional acquaintance in a group I'm in
My goal is to of course make money through my art but at the moment that isn't the case.
Even though all of my art is for myself I just don't have the time for other projects.
Plus- I don't think I could EVER charge my friends money for art. We just don't operate like that. We are all artists anyhow.

Yeah it’s just a lot of artists I’ve seen are sort of forced to operate in the way of still charging their friends and family for art and it’s mainly because they can’t afford to do any non paid art no matter what financially. It’s often because of them already charging below minimum wage per hour for their art so they are always in high demand for commissions so they can have enough money for their essentials. Anyways if you are wanting to make money off doing art then the best way to do it is by being good at drawing everything you can and you do that by always pushing yourself to try drawing stuff you have never drawn before! So in that perspective you could open yourself up to other people’s characters and ideas so you could have a massive source of inspiration and that’s exactly what you would need if you want to really improve your art skills at a quick rate!

I am not in the position where I have to make money off of my art. It is more of a dream, and if it doesn't happen then it doesn't happen.
I am not in a position where I am unable to get a more stable job either; I am not diagnosed with any disabilities and I have graduated high school. Working on a college degree as a backup for if my art doesn't take off.
And no offense to you, but I already know what I need to do to sell my art. I am in school for a digital media degree and I've taken art classes. Plus I've done plenty of research. I hate to waste your time but this information is nothing new for me.
I don't mean to come off as rude, but I am really not interested in improving my art by drawing other's characters unless the design intrigues me enough to draw it. I draw for myself, and rarely for others. and I don't mean to brag but I am improving at a quick rate as it is; any quicker and I might be accused of art theft or tracing. You really can't rush art- you grow when you grow. I'm at the state where the only things I should be pushing myself to draw would be background, cars, mecha and armor, weapons. Not characters as I pretty much have them in a place I am satisfied with.

Yeah while I’m really good at drawing perspective art like 3D looking buildings and scenery so I’m really good at drawing cityscape scenes however my drawing is still in development when it comes to characters. Though I think having a really good natural understanding of 3D perspective is an essential for drawing background scenes!

I agree with you though, they are important and i'm glad I do understand them.
Now- again. I hate to come off as rude. But, if you are still looking for an art trade then I'm really going to have to decline.
I feel like you are trying to worm around and get art out of me that I don't feel comfortable with doing.

Yeah though I’m still quite surprised of how I learned to draw characters so quickly as I’ve only been drawing them since February this year! Though I’ve been drawing mechanical and perspective stuff for years now and I used to doodle with that sort of stuff all the time when I was younger. I apparently was really fascinated with super complex mechanical machinery and I’m still like that today!

Are you trying to stray away from bases perhaps? while I'm not against them to start with and reference you should move away from them as soon as possible.
But I'm glad you are happy with your improvement.
