BTW I have this OC in the works, and she's a rag doll warrior. Any tips you can give me to make toy characters?

For rag dolls, what I like most is the fact that they have no bone structure, so they're arms can be noodly if you want. XD Though I do tend to keep to regular form and basic anatomy within reason. The seam lines on rag dolls can be in many places, depending on the pattern. Also; depending on the fabric she's made of she could be sturdy or easily ripped. (Nylon's fairly strong, cotton can be depending, but it's usually weaker.) Stuffing too? Some dolls were stuffed with sawdust rather than fluff, back in the day, and most ragdolls are stuffed with it. (Though I decided not to have mine stuffed with it.) Uh, I feel I've just listed a bunch of random tips. I'm sure I have more if you'd like me to go on? (Button eyes? Or more stylized and realistic teddy eyes?)Β

I mean when designing there are a lot of different styles and options. If you want a more rough ragdoll, with frayed edges, go for a burlap look. Though burlap as a material is one of the more easily ripped ones (You probably see a lot of scarecrow art pieces depicting burlap.) It would give her a rough around the edges look. If she is a warrior, has she been in many battles? Gotten some patches perhaps? Thats another thing to consider for her overall design. Stains too. Don't know what kind of battles she's been in, but blood stains clothing 8U and material very harshly if it's not cleaned right away. Though that may make it a bit more grotesque. (Don't know what kind of world she's based in, possibly no creatures with blood *shrugs*) Other things stain material too. (For e.g. I have a ragdoll character who's an artist and has stained her fingertips with acrylic paint. She's not allowed near acrylic anymore.)
Hair? There are many options, from yarn to cut pieces of fabric. Just think of any type if string, and you could possibly use that as a type of hair. Another of my dolls has kind of dreadlocks, that are made out of turned wool.
I seem to have run out of steam at this point, if you have any questions do ask. :3Β

Well, some.
1. Is it okay for her to have a button on her right eye to symbolize an eyepatch?
2. What kind of object can she use for a weapon? I was thinking about a sewing needle for a sword, but since I imagine her the size of a small teddy bear, and I think it's a little too out of perspective.
3. I'm thinking that her name should be Rosie, is that okay or is that too stereotypical?
That is all

When it comes to your own creation, whatever you like the most aesthetically is always the way to go. She could also still have a sewing needle, there are some big ones out there, you could also have her dual wield knitting needles that have been sharpened XDΒ
Honestly whatever name you think suits her is always best. Don't worry about stereotyping or restrict yourself worrying about whether or not something seems stereotypical. (I honestly don't think Rosie is.)
Have fun with it! All the things I've listed are just general facts that could help you expand your horizons when it comes to design.Β
