You definitely got a handle of the color combinations in the first one. I would suggest focus on tightening those lines as you get near the finish. Right now it's kind of getting lost in all the sketchiness of the piece.

For the second one I would try to use only the colors given to you. Don't use whites if you didn't get any

Unfortunately this is not hate art for if it was I would've taken it down. This is a parody.
For it to be hate art it has to directly involve hate/harm/or insults towards the person in question.
All this person is doing is apparently making fun of you. Which also means that this issue is between you and the deviant.
If you honestly wish for this to be resolved, then your best bet is to go report the deviation to an admin on DA.

The person in question is simply making fun of your picture. He isn't spewing hate about you, nor wishing you any harm.
He simply drew a parody of your picture.
Me removing this deviation will change nothing about it. I suggest that you go and talk to him personally about it, or report him to a admin if it's really getting on your nerves.

You'd be surprised how many people watch arguments with him. On forums they screenshot it, and members and passerbys alike come over to see the thing unfold. Most just choose not to say anything about it or give their two cents on the forum that linked the conversation.

I'm thinking about scrapping some art in my gallery. Some are just downright embarassing. I have much more to upload, but honestly lately on DA I haven't given a care too much to post my stuff on here.

I just tried to talk some sense into Preston, he's everything thats wrong with too many artists these days. He's lethargic, unmotivated, greedy, and whiny. My friend Polyrunis the one that brought him to my attention.


How come you don't feel motivated to keep updating your gallery?

Funny thing is, I literally find Preston as the antithesis inspirational figure. Everytime I see some kind of bullshit he gets himself into I say to myself "This is not what I want to do as an artist." Seeing his art and his page on a daily basis gives me the motivation to do my best in art so I can never ever fall into the position Preston gets himself into.

I stopped caring about updating my gallery for the sole fact that what captivated and drew me in to DeviantART is no longer there. Be warned because this is going to be in an essence TL;DR explanation.
When I first came on here as a preteen I was completely blown away by the different styles, mediums, and skill that some of these artists did. Every part of me said 'I want to be a part of that community.' I was your typical animu weeabo hack that drew cute shit because it was popular and shit. I liked sparkledogs, Naruto, Chibis...all that crap. Then I started becoming an attention whore at the once Snapesnogger's page by advertising my shitty MSPaint pics all over her comments page. After being called out for it and seeing the sheer amount of drama on her page was when I ran into ED. Shit happens(no drama or anything.) Switched to this current account right here because I wanted to get away from the shit drawings I did in my old account realized that for every original, hard working picture I did; for every one favorite that pic got, another five favorites would go to some stupid fanart sketch I did in like 5 minutes.

I also realized how much of a trap this website is. Not a single critique is voluntarily given. Unless your a lulz cow like Preston. People like Genzoman and Jolly-Jack...artists I used to look up to- five years later they are still chugging out the same shit every time. No changes, no improvements.
Perhaps after college I will utilize this website more to promote traffic to my own website(WIP right now.) however as of now I will simply upload when I'm not lazy enough.

However I might just try a little more seeing as how you are not the first one to tell me that they like my stuff enough to see more uploaded every so often.

First off I'm sorry for my late reply, I just got back from a long (at least it felt that way) vacation in Chicago.

Heres my responses to your points:
1. Thats pretty much Prestions role in life, to show what NOT to become.

2. I try to give out critcism in a modest manner, usually its read but seemingly not taken into account. I don't want to say this, but maybe half of the people that I watch crank out the same drawings day in and day out, their drawings alone look okay but they've fallen into that "same junk, new face" trap thats very common with artists, American cars, and Smartphones.

3. As far as I can tell people are more interested in whats familiar to them than actual quality, just look at recent Hollywood remakes.

1. Yep, that's why as sad as it will be, I don't want Preston to get better.

2. He never takes criticism. Ever. I haven't critiqued him art wise, but I have said plenty on his behavior and work ethics. I didn't even really insult him like most people do. Every time it's the same nonsense it's either not enough time or it's too hard....did he expect art to be easy?
Yeah way too many artist on here on stagnant. Which is why I don't normally come here anymore. It's like a trap, putting you into complacency, and you aren't able to break out of it. When someone tries to break you out of it, you lash out and make excuses with the help of your fans.
If there is one thing I was told to be warned about, is to not appreciate worthless praise. Which is when people who don't know stink about art tell you your drawings are the best, ignore them. For they don't know anything about the art world.
As Ford once said, had he of listened to what the common people wanted, he would've just made a faster horse.
3. I don't even care for Hollywood movies. They've been out on ideas for a long time. However they hardly give any budget money to any different films. For example when District 9 was in the works, the film only had a budget of 1 million dollars for the simple reason that the director at the time wasn't Micheal Bay popular. Yet look at what they did with that money.
I guess the only reason why people still watch their crap is because they are only catering to nostalgia fans. Remakes everywhere. Everyone likes remakes especially if it's of a favorite movie.
