Three-Amigos [2012-02-28 03:42:23 +0000 UTC]
Hey! Saw you like yaoi, I thought you would like this:
I've been writing a gay romance story called 'The Three Amigos'! It's an ongoing story about three male teachers that all work at the same middle school. It's ongoing and awesome! Here's a link to part one if you're interested. [link] If you like it, I'd be honored if you would shoot me a watch!
Thanks!

Love the second part of sig! It sounds like a Scott McNeil quote I saw on a vid on YouTube!
"Space.... A manly place. A place for manly men. Men so manly they need a man for a wife!"

I can relate to that subject. Although I have never been raped myself, I live in constant fear that it will happen one day simply because I am a woman. I am glad to see artistic measures taken in effort to prevent rape or spread awareness.

I was about to thank you for the watch, as I do to all my other watchers, but I'm not going to seeing as it'd piss you off.
Something you might want to note though, is that deviants usually thank people as a gesture of appreciation, and they want to return the favour even if a watch back isn't their thing. Personally I found your rejection to gratitude rather peculiar.
We don't have to waste our time going through all the profiles of our watchers and thanking them, so take the hint and show some appreciation as well.

randomfangirl In reply to nitefise [2010-09-28 20:36:27 +0000 UTC]
I'm sorry if I came off as uncouth or rude. I had a much nicer message asking to please not post such messages on my page, as I like to go to my message box and find things such as feedback on my work, replies to my feedback, and so on and so forth. That is the purpose of an art site, and as such that category is "Feedback", not "thank yous". It always dissapoints me when I get thanked for something because that is not feedback, and I assume that whomever I watch/fave the artwork of is grateful that I do. I don't like going into my message box hoping for communication, and finding a sorely dissapointing quick and impersonal "thanks".
I had to change the message because people were not reading it and continuing to post, even when it was bold font. Then I had to change it again, and so on and so forth.
And if deviants don't have to waste their time doing so, why do they? Instead they could be having freetime, creating art, studying, any multitude of things.
To me, "thank you" is impersonal because whomever is telling me this does not know me, and will not have a conversation with me other than to shoot me a quick two word sentence which they will ignore the reply to anyway.
I would rather have someone give my work cronstructive critisism, even if it is not positive, than have to wade through an inbox full of messages that are both impersonal and annoying.
Good day to you.

It's quite all right. I just found it an extremely odd thing, that's all.
I do respect your view, however I must add that deviants do this kind of thing even though they don't have to, so they don't come across as arrogant. Personally, if someone watches me, I want them to know that they've been acknowledged. Maybe it's just your assumption that all deviants are grateful that's a little inaccurate. I really don't think the world is that good a place. But I won't go into philosophy.
True, constructive criticism is always good, but that's probably as good as it'd ever get in terms of dA communication. More than half the time you will either get "thank you"s or "wow that's good"s, and that's the reality. You should bear in mind that not everyone has the capacity to give constructive criticism, and therefore their way of communicating might be a simple "thank you". I assure you, these are certainly not impersonal messages, and would probably hurt the deviant if it were considered annoying. An impersonal deviant wouldn't say thank you to begin with.

No problem at all. I just think that messages, whether you want them or not, is something one should learn to deal with. A message along the lines of "don't thank me because I don't care" is very likely to offend someone.
I had a look at your reworded message, and it's great, but also consider putting it as a comment on your page like you did with the previous one. In all honesty, that was the one I saw when I went to your page to comment, I didn't notice the one at the end of your journal.
Been good talking to you. Have a good day :]

randomfangirl In reply to nitefise [2010-09-28 21:23:58 +0000 UTC]
I suppose so. But I still don't like messages flooding my inbox in general. I don't think anyone does. I was super pissed at DA's birthday announcements for that exact reason. If someone I watch has a birthday, I'll know it if it's really that important to them, through journal/poll/posted on their page, ect.
I do feel that some people only thank out of obligation or whatnot. Those comments are pretty forced from the start.
It's just my personal preference to see at least something that is part of a conversation in my inbox. It doesn't necessarily have to be criticism either. Sometimes I talk fandom or debate. It can be really frustrating when I'm waiting for a reply, or when I just posted something and am hoping it may get a comment of fave simply because it's relatively new, and the message in my inbox is just "Thanks for the fave! :emoticon:", or whatever.
To me it's just dissapointing or annoying, and as such I tried to express that there is no need for it on my page. Another thing is that people who actually care, such as you, actually take the time to read the post where I say I do not desire such comments. When I continued to recieve them despite my post, it was a sign that the people thanking me were not putting much thought into it to begin with. I would like to just put a "Please don't thank me, I would not appreciate it bye" up there, but experience told me that it would not be read.
Plenty of deviants share my view as well. I stopped giving thank you comments because I saw the opinion voiced on stamps and journals, pages, ect. and eventually I came to agree.
I just think that it's time consuming and spammage, personally, but you don't have to agree. I respect your opinion as much as you respect mine.
