Surprised deviantART didn't send me a message suggesting I buy myself a subscription because of it, then follow up by awarding me a fucking lama badge.

Happy Birthday
I wish you the best today
Instead of counting candles,
Or tallying the years,
Contemplate your blessings,
As your birthday nears.
Consider special people
Who love you, and who care,
And others whoβve enriched your life
Just by being there.
Think about the memories
Passing years can never mar,
Experiences great and small
That have made you who you are.
Another year is a happy gift,
So cut your cake, and say,
"Instead of counting birthdays,
I count blessings every day!"

Hey you,
I just wanted to stop by and leave you a note to thank you for adding me to your Dev watch at one point.
I have decided to leave Deviant Art for the time being, and I just wanted to let you know so you don't have a dead link on your watch. Just know that I appreciated you watching me and I hope to talk to you in the future.
Sorry for the generic message but it's going out to everyone who is currently watching me. I don't want to just "disappear" without a word.

yes it's supposed to give the feeling of motion, the idea behind the title is that this view is from a ship that just discovered the land at the horizon

Hi there and thanks for your comments. Since you mention it, yes they were taken at Fort Indiantown Gap, aka FIG, aka The Gap, aka The Bulge or BOB or whatever else people call it. The Battle of the Bulge event is actually an annual occurrence - that is, until the army tears down the barracks.
You might find it interesting that a large number of military posts has this style barracks and they are generally still in use. Fort Meade, when I lived there, was tearing down the last of the ones it had. The post I am currently at still has - and is still using - those buildings for deploying troops as they are getting ready for deployment. Incidentally, that's what they are being used for at FIG at the moment as well since it's a deployment post.
As far as fire watch is concerned yes, they burn down in about two minutes flat, not to mention other issues they have - like that lovely "mint" green paint that is a lead-based paint. The biggest issue we had during the event was that some of the lights shorted out in the bathroom (everyone was just thrilled about that).
By the way, any time you have troops in an open squad bay like that you have to (or at least are supposed to) post firewatch - even if they're not old World War II buildings like these.

Hey man, when I get some extra time, I'm going to read your book... I've taken some shots at a few paragraphs from time to time, and everything looks great! I like your attention to detail with emotion, from what I read, you do a great job of getting into the characters heads.
