Hey! Cool, thanks! It's been a while since we've chatted.
Everything is groovy. I'm doing a lot for art and film this year, fairly excited, but anxious about the whole process.
How are you going? Your art?

That's awesome. It always feels really good making a lot of work. What kind of films so you like to make?
And art on my end has been going well. School has been inspiring and challenging. So it's been pushing me to try new techniques and materials. It's been a lot of fun.

Films I like to make generally have something to do with psychosis, magic, hospitals, violence, afterlife, etc. I generally choose these because they have a complicated editing style and are more elaborate in story. It really helps with learning to have a difficult task to aspire to. I've also made comedies and dance videos in the past.
I'm glad to hear you're enjoying everything.
What's your favourite short film/movie genre or theme? I'm having a little trouble coming up with a general idea for my film to focus around.

Hm. I don't normally watch short films, but I love movies like The Cell or The Fall. Something like a fairy tale but really creepy and twisted is always fun. I had to make a short silent film in my media class, and we had to do a scifi-romance. That is the genre that we were given, but we made it about a man with multiple personality disorder, and he was in love with one of the personalities he saw in his mirror. Editing for that film was difficult, but thank goodness I got to work the camera and direct a bit while my roommate did all the editing. She's amazing. ^.^
I don't know. If you are having trouble thinking of something to do, try and think of something that you wouldn't want to do. And somehow make it work. It would at least be an interesting experience, and maybe you'd come up with something you normally wouldn't have.

Awesome, we pretty much like the same short films!
I have decided to make my film based off of Basement Jaxx's album Scars, it's incredible if you've yet to hear it.
I'm so inspired, I'm pumped for my project now.

I have not heard it yet, but I will look into it. I think I can trust your taste is music as well as movies. Hehe.
And I love it when you get super excited about a project. My roommate and I have to do a political soft sculpture for class. We're sewing a life size caribou. I'm so darned excited about it. ^.^

Sounds intense! I'd like to hear more about this delightful caribou.
Glad we have the same taste in music/movies. I do vary at times though, so you might not completely agree (but it's incredible, I'd be ashamed if you didn't).
I'm doing a retro political photo-montage for art studies that basically states that our government is a genocidal, capitalist drug-dealer that demonizes spirituality in the sake of private profits, despite how many people suffer and die to their brainwashing and propaganda. I often over-complicate my works to make sure they're deep, I hope it's not too bad this time. hahaha

Wow. That photo montage will be quite a statement. lol. Good luck with that. I'd love to see it though when you finish it. It's too bad that Deviant Art doesn't let everyone post their videos, but I can see that as a good thing too. o.0
And as for the caribou, I will be posting pictures of it once it's finished. ^.^ Which will have to be by the 12th... >.< Oh my. Too much work do to.
It's good to have lots of different tastes in movies. I normally pick out scifi/fantasy movies or Miazaki films when by myself, but the other night my guy friends made me watch Dusk Till Dawn.. that Terintino film with George Clooney about mexican biker vampires. It was hilarious.

Yeah, I agree. It's kind of cool that they require people authentication before they let people upload, but it's also time consuming. I signed up a few weeks ago and have yet to get a reply email.
I like watching different movies, too. Foreign films, short films, fantasy, drama, action, horror, comedy, family, romance (chick flicks), you name it
I generally judge a movie by its production elements and story, not genre type. I liked Avatar a heap, can't really remember the last movie I watched.
I just finished watching Queer as Folk (US version) Season 1. It's so adorable, I love it. That and Weeds have to be my all-time favorite shows.
Do you like Weeds or QAF?

crazy-artist34 In reply to rhysie21 [2010-03-03 01:44:26 +0000 UTC]
I loved avatar too!! I was so sad when people keep cutting it down because the story line was a lot like pocahontas, but the movie wasn't really about an amazing plot, it was supposed to be a demonstration of the amazing technology and work that was put into making it that darn pretty.
I understand their point, but at the same time it make me a tad bit angry. Silly people.
I don't watch weeds, but my friend's mom is an actor in the show. Thats all that I really know about it. lol. And the other show you mentioned I haven't heard of.
I tend to not watch tv. I'll watch Fringe and Warehouse 13... thats about it. lol. At college, we don't have cable, and even if we did I don't think I would have time to just sit around and watch.
No more free time. If I do have some, it's here in DA or talking to friends back home on the phone. Or SLEEP. But that usually comes last. haha.

Your friends mum is an actor in Weeds?! OMG! WHO?!
I don't really watch TV, I download the episodes considering they're pretty much never shown on public-broadcast TV (supposedly it's not piracy if its a TV show and you only watch it once).
Hahaha, damn. I like keeping busy sometimes, but it can really suck if its with something I have no interest in. I often neglect sleep, and it sucks.
Ooooh! Good news! I have been accepted to make film submissions! I got the message less than 5 minutes ago. I should have some stuff up once I get my computer working properly.

Elizabeth Perkins. Crazily enough. She's really sweet.
Thank goodness I'm busy with stuff I actually enjoy. If it was math, I think I would have died by now.
and YAY!! I can't wait to see some of your videos!!

Elizabeth Perkins is awesome, she plays one of my all-time favourite characters. In fact, she's been in a number of really good movies! I feel special being somehow connected to her. Have you personally met her before?
Thanks for adding me to your deviantWATCH!

haha not a problem about the watch!
But yes, her daughter was in my senior class. So i'd see her around at the parent/student events and say hi when I saw my friend too. I never saw any of her movies or shows before when my friend first joined the school. It wasn't until weeds came out that I found out she was an actress. lol.

Thank you!
It's not difficult, just hold open the shutter on your camera (you can close the iris more if it helps) for a few seconds in a dark room and paint in the air with the light. Good luck!
