In every work of genius we recognize our own rejected thoughts: they come back to us with a certain alienated majesty. Great works of art have no more affecting lesson for us than this. They teach us to abide by our own spontaneous impression with the good-humored inflexibility when the whole cry of choices is on the other side. Else, tomorrow a stranger will say with masterly good sense precisely what we have thought and felt all the time, and we shall be forced to take with shame our own opinion from another.

'Tao Te Ching: Verse 57'

If you want to be a great leader,
you must learn to follow the Tao.
Stop trying to control.
Let go of fixed plans and concepts,
and the world will govern itself.

The more prohibitions you have,
the less virtuous people will be.
The more weapons you have,
the less secure people will be.
The more subsidies you have,
the less self-reliant people will be.

Therefore the Master says:
I let go of the law,
and people become honest.
I let go of economics,
and people become prosperous.
I let go of religion,
and people become serene.
I let go of all desire for the common good,
and the good becomes common as grass.

Railroad Boy

She went upstairs
To make her bed
Not a word
To her mother said

Her mother she
Went upstairs too
Saying Daughter oh Daughter
What's troublin you?

Oh Mother dear
I cannot tell
That railroad boy
I love so well

He's courted me
My life away
And now at home
He will not stay

There is a place
In London town
That railroad boy
Goes and sits down

He takes a strange
Girl on his knee
And he tells to her
What he won't tell me

Her father he
Came home from work
Sayin where's my daughter
She seemed so hurt

He went upstairs
To give her hope
Well he found her hangin
By a rope

He took a knife
Cut her down
And on her bosom
These words he found

Go and dig my grave
Both wide and deep
Put a marble stone at
My head and my feet

At my breast
Put a white snow dove
You tell the world
I died of love

Father To Son

High on a cliff a young man's throwing stones
Where they land into the sea
Says to his father what's the point of leaving home?
Now that I am ten and three
This world makes no sense to me

The older one said to the wind you must go
Feel the sky upon your face
This ol world is what you make it you must know
What you see is what you face
What you believe will be your place

For fifteen years I sailed across the vast and mighty ocean
Strange were the people and the places when we docked in for the night
Mixed were my feelings, wild were my emotions
Boy was it hard, but boy was it a sight

* Chorus*
Sing La La
La la la la la la la la la la la la...

The boy packed his bags, said goodbye to his Ma
She waved from the shore
Boarded the grand ship with her Captain and her crew
The boy walked through the door
He up and walked right through that door

For fifteen years he sailed across the vast and mighty ocean
Strange were the places and the people when he docked in for the night
Mixed were his feelings, wild ran his emotions
Boy was it hard, but boy was it a sight

*Chorus*
Sing La La
La la la la la la la la la la la la la la la...

Early in the spring the ol ship she came home
Where she settled for a stay
Father and son they met eyes once again
Took a walk on along the bay
Tellin tales til the break of day

* Chorus*
Sing La La
La la la la la la la la la la la la la la la...

Corinne West Maybe Love Will Find You

You know I'm with you
Tell me, why do I feel all alone
What's this one way street
We keep turnin' on

I got the heart
But it's broken like a stone
If there's love left in this blood
(Then tell me)
Why do I feel all alone

Maybe love will find you
Maybe it won't
Maybe it's deeper
Maybe you just put it on hold
Maybe love will blind you
Maybe it's outa sight
Maybe we'll walk together
Stand in the light
And give up the fight

You know I'm with you
Tell me, why is it not enough
By the time you learn about love
All the doors slam shut

Oh..Oh...

You've played your songs and your
Desire comes too much
That heart within your body
Just beats for someone to love

Hey Hey Hey Hey...

Maybe love will find you
Maybe it won't
Maybe it's deeper
Maybe you just put it on hold
Maybe love will blind you
Maybe it's outa sight
Maybe we'll walk together
Stand in the light
And give up the fight

I'm a rebel more than ever
But I surrender the fight
Hoping magic turns on the love
And we come out tonight

I'm a rebel more than ever
I wake up and shake my hand
This journey's ours all alone
Got to dance it 'til I'm dead

Maybe love will find you
Maybe it won't
Maybe it's deeper
Maybe you just put it on hold
Maybe love will blind you
Maybe it's outa sight
Maybe we'll walk together
Stand in the light
And give up the fight

Never made it as a wise man
I couldn't cut it as a poor man stealin'
Tired of livin' like a blind man
I'm sick of sight without a sense of feeling

This is how you remind me
This is how you remind me of what I really am

It's not like you to say sorry, I was waiting on a different story
This time I'm mistaken for handing you a heart worth breaking
I've been wrong, I've been down, been to the bottom of every bottle
These five words in my head scream "are we havin' fun yet?"

It's not like you didn't know that
I said I love you and I swear I still do
And it must have been so bad
Cause livin' with me must have damn near killed you

This is how you remind me of what I really am
This is how you remind me of what I really am

It's not like you to say sorry, I was waiting on a different story
This time I'm mistaken for handing you a heart worth breaking
I've been wrong, I've been down, been to the bottom of every bottle

"Figured you Out"

I like your pants around your feet
And I like the dirt that's on your knees
And I like the way you say please
While you're looking up at me
You're like my favorite damn disease

And I love the places that we go
And I love the people that you know
And I love the way you can't say "No"
Too many long lines in a row
I love the powder on your nose

And now I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out

Now I did, you wonder why
I like the freckles on your chest
And I like the way you like me best
And I like the way you're not impressed
While you put me to the test

I like the white stains on your dress
I love the way you pass the check
And I love the good times that you wreck

And I love your lack of self respect
While you're passed out on the deck
I love my hands around your neck

And I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out

Now I did, you wonder why
Why not before, you never tried
Gone for good, and this is it

I like your pants around your feet
And I like the dirt that's on your knees
And I like the way you still say please
While you're looking up at me
You're like my favorite damn disease

And I hate the places that we go
And I hate the people that you know
And I hate the way you can't say "No"
Too many long lines in a row
I hate the powder on your nose

Nickelback "Someday"

How the hell'd we wind up like this
And why weren't we able
To see the signs that we missed
And try to turn the tables
I wish you'd unclench your fists
And unpack your suitcase
Lately there's been too much of this
But don't think it's too late

Nothing's wrong
Just as long as you know that someday I will
Someday, somehow
I''m gonna make it alright
But not right now
I know you're wondering when
You're the only one who knows that
Someday somehow
I'm gonna make it alright
But not right now
I know you're wondering when

Well I'd hope that since we're here anyway
That we could end up saying
Things we've always needed to say
So we could end up staying
Now the story's played out like this
Just like a paperback novel
Let's rewrite an ending that fits
Instead of a Hollywood horror

Nothing's wrong
Just as long as you know that someday I will
Someday, somehow
I''m gonna make it alright
But not right now
I know you're wondering when
You're the only one who knows that
Someday somehow
I'm gonna make it alright
But not right now
I know you're wondering when
You're the only one who knows that
I know you're wondering when
You're the only one who knows that
I know you're wondering when

Buying Time

I stayed awake for hours again last night
Searching for a reason to keep up the fight
I've made choices I don't regret
I've got problems I don't get

I didn't want to carry the heavier load
You can't always take the middle road
There comes a time when you make up your mind
And the point get left behind

Oh lets wait one more day for the conversation
One more day to make it right
Lets get away from the confrontation
One more day just buying time

For years and years you can drift alone
And write another verse to an endless song
Wait one more day till the time is right
Hoping that you both see the light

You won't see the light!

Oh lets wait one more day for the conversation
One more day to make it right
Lets get away from the confrontation
One more day just buying time

I'm not afraid to sleep alone
I'm not afraid to be alone

Stayed awake for hours again last night
Just searching for a reason to keep up the fight
I've made choices I don't regret
But I've got problems and problems and problems and problems..

Oh lets wait one more day for the conversation
One more day to make it right
Lets get away from the confrontation
One more day just buying time

Great Big Sea "Barque in the Harbour"

From a barque in the harbour I went roaming on shore
And stepped into a pub where I was oft times before
And as I was sitting and enjoying my glass
Who chanced to walk in but a young Spanish lass
She sat down beside me and kept squeezing my hand
Saying 'Sir you're a stranger not long to this land'
Will you roam, Johnny Sailor, would you roam along with me
To some lonesome spot where nobody can see

'Don't you leave me Johnny Sailor' were the words she did cry
Waving and weeping and wiping her eyes
When you reach home in your own Newfoundland
Think of the young Spaniard who kept squeezing your hand

I quickly consented with her for to roam
She lived by herself in a neat little home
She was brisk, plump and jolly and her age scare 19
And the name of that maiden I think was Irene

One fine summer's morning our ship, she set sail
And down by the seashore lovely Irene she came
Waving her pocket hankerchief and wiping her eyes
'Don't leave me Johnny Sailor' were the words she did cry

'Don't you leave me Johnny Sailor' were the words she did cry
Waving and weeping and wiping her eyes
When you reach home in your own Newfoundland
Think of the young Spaniard who kept squeezing your hand

I'll give you farewell love on a fine summer's breeze
But love don't forget me when you're crossing the sea
And when you are married and enjoying your bride
Think on the young maiden who lay by your side

'Don't you leave me Johnny Sailor' were the words she did cry
Waving and weeping and wiping her eyes
When you reach home in your own Newfoundland
Think of the young Spaniard who kept squeezing your hand
