Thanks for the watch and for offering help on developing. I'll do a little reading and get the gear assembled. Meanwhile I can shoot some C-41 films to get the hang of the camera.

I was sooooo happy to see that you still use film "for the love". It's a dying art. I miss developing and printing my own photos the 'old fashioned' way. But, I'll have a dark room later this year when my partner and I move into the house we recently bought. It will be for the love.

Too cool about the darkroom. I'll be setting mine up in the garage in a month or so. A local photographer, who was retiring after 60 years of shooting, gave me his enlarger, timer and a bunch of accessories. Can't wait to get started.

That's brilliant!! It's really nice to know I'm not the only person who still likes working with film.
Absolute score getting the set up from him. My other half picked up an enlarger from an antique store for under $150, in perfect working order. And I can get all the chemicals, film and paper cheap through the guy who has been printing my photos for fifteen years (I got my first SLR - a Minolta - for my 10th birthday).
I'm so excited for you. Can't wait to see more.

Nice. I have a Minolta XG7 that belonged to my Grandfather. Still works and takes great photos.

Minoltas never die!!
I'm not sure what model mine is, maybe the XG2, circa 1970s. I wanted a camera for my 10th birthay after seeing some black and white photography, and my dad and grandfather managed to find it, in almost perfect condition at a second hand store. I did have to get some of the internals cleaned in 2002 when my bratty brother managed to get his filthy hands inside it (I was furious and heartbroken when I thought he broke it), but it has served me very well and still takes great photos too. It was my first 'baby'. Hahaha. 15 years this May since I've had it. It's been through so much. Hahah.
Bit of a sad day when I had to make the change to DSLR, but I think I enjoy 'playing' with the Minolta more now, because it really is something I do for ME, not for work.
