The island of Nauru is actually a pile of phosphate-rich guano. Their main export is the aforementioned poop. They are selling their country from under their feet. Get out while you can!

on the upside, nauru means "laughter" in Finnish. if I were to live on a sinking turd, what else would there be to do? plus poop is usually funny anyway.

I heard about that. looked for a minute like no one would be saying "better out than in" every again. good for those indianites, although another expression whose status would've changed dramatically could've been "shitstorm"..
here in the north the worst problem we're faced with is the 110-or-so tons of snow the city of Helsinki has been moving out of the highways & byways and into designated dump sites (chuckle). they're saying the huge hills of snow won't melt until september..
.. but at least it's not poop. otherwise there wouldn't be much "nauru" going around.

been busy with
a) uni (long-time study fees and whatnot),
b) work (see a)),
c) girlfriend & her professional education's final exams (lots of help needed),
d) making music,
e) living,
f) writing: shifting focus from english poetry to german poetry,
g) having turned 30 and still being a student (see a)),
h) dealing with girlfriend leaving to scottsdale, az, for one year,
h) and all the rest unmentioned.
i'm mostly into haiku these days, the idea seems to suit my abilities best. have come to love it.

the woods are wet right now. we had two weeks of cold, perfect snow & now it's like walking in a rainforest in the arctic. this sucks. it's christmas soon & I'll be pissed if there's no snow.

You should write one (even if in English), do a modern version of an old classic. A good portion of our greatest poems came from poets reinventing old forms.
