I just want to say... you're amazing. I've always known you're amazing but now I appreciate it so much more because I have a degree of chronic fatigue syndrome... I am losing my job... I don't even know how one has friends because who wants to party in somebody's bed, right... So honestly... so much admiration for you.

I hope you're still around, because I only just saw this now. I'm so sorry you're struggling with ME/CFS, I wouldn't wish it on anyone and ESPECIALLY you. So many loves and gentle squeezy hugs from my bed to yours.

In all honesty, I am lucky in that I know I could have it worse. But equally I just... I just want to live my life as I did. I have so much admiration and respect for you because I feel that whenever I have to confront the reality that I can't just get up and go for a walk when my brain fancies it, I react like a small child having a temper tantrum.

Oh don't worry, I do my fair share of temper tantrums too! It's like steering a really wilful horse--you have to keep nudging (or yanking) yourself back on the straight and narrow of acceptance, every single day. But it is possible, and in my experience it's worth trying. The illness is bad enough without adding suffering onto it as well. There's a book called How To Be Sick by Toni Bernhard that helped me a lot--maybe it'll help you too, assuming you're well enough to read right now. Lemme know if you need help getting your hands on a copy. The other thing that helps is a Buddhist concept known as Radical Acceptance. You don't have to like or agree with your illness, but if you can accept it as a fact of your reality, it takes off a lot of the strain.

I'm a long way away from any kind of acceptance unfortunately. Part of that is because I've had extremely negative experiences ever since I've started to have problems with my health (some healthcare professionals asking me if I'm putting things on for attention, for example, which now feels me with shame that maybe I am). I know poor health always brings some negative experiences - I don't imply that I'm special there, but more that I deal very poorly with negative experiences. I'm paying money I don't have to get actual therapy (previous therapists were not helpful) to help with some of that.
Ultimately though... I'm scared of accepting that I'll always be like this. I don't know how people do that. I don't have the resilience to do it alone.
